HI. My name is Heami Lee and Im a Queer Asian American.
And this is my love letter to the resilience, strength, and beauty of my community.
Where I Stand- is an ongoing project that was started in 2019.
It’s a portrait series taken with a simple snapshot film camera of Queer Asian Americans that proudly claim their space.
We are all around you. In various beautiful forms. Leading our own versions of extraordinary lives.
I am grateful for each person that has taken part and will take part.
You are loved. Seen. Heard and most definitely not alone.
This is my most rewarding and heartfelt project yet.
im so not into routine.
But im also a fun contradiction.
I love taking snapshots every day- sometimes all day.
I love taking photos of the same thing(s). every day. esp of my boss.
Sometimes I take photos of what I eat or sidewalk garbage for a few months or even a year.
And yeah, it's really ugly. But I love it. over and over.
This time, I took photos every day of A’s flowers in my dorm room.
cuz I love her, and the rest are my secrets to enjoy.
to more sunrise walks with jittering, dancing roses in the air.
Oh, and maybe a C from S to make us laugh.
i dont eat wings often, but when I do…
