No Space Left To Play

We’re happy to announce are now officially a Community Benefit Society! That means we can start getting funding, commissioning studies, and laying the groundwork for acquiring buildings through community ownership. It’s an exciting time and we want to get as many keen folks involved as possible to help shape the plan over the coming months. Our inaugural AGM is on 8th September. Membership costs £1 per year. —————————————————- No Space Left To Play is dedicated to sustaining Leeds’ creative communities — supporting the people and the spaces we need to thrive. Through being a strong collective voice, we want to harness collective power to shape the city we call home.

Our independent spaces are closing and we are concerned we risk losing many more as rapid development unfolds across Leeds. These venues play an important, and often under-recognised, role in the social, economic and cultural fabric of our city. We know conversations are already happening about this and we want to bring these together and harness our energy into positive, collaborative action. Last month, we had our 2nd annual Winter Warmer, where we celebrated the end of the year with a warm meal and yummy dessert options. Throughout the event, guests were welcome to participate in a collective art activity inviting them to share what their ‘space to play’ would look like. Our raffle was a success with people winning wonderful prizes from restaurant vouchers from @easternovenleeds to @leeds_community_sauna tickets. We raised around £1000 from the night, which will go towards organising future events and workshops. A huge thank you to @allhallowsleeds for having us, and to everyone who supported, either by attending or sharing the event. Here’s to more fun in 2026! #leeds #leedscommunity

Less than a week to go until our Winter Warmer! Last year, we had a number of fun raffle prizes including a variety of home cooked meals, tickets to events as well as exclusive workshops, and this year’s no different! We are very fortunate to be amongst creativity in our community, and already have a collection of goodies up for grabs, but if there are more skills/crafts/opportunities/food you’d like to offer, send us a DM. We had many people offer prizes on the night last year too, so if you think of anything from now until next Friday, there’ll be a chance then! In this workshop, you’ll get the chance to map your ideas for future spaces and to translate them into collages using tracing paper and film photographs. The finished collages will be added to an ongoing archive that aims to influence the city’s future regeneration plans. The workshop responds to Is This What We Have Left? exhibited at Hyde Park Book Club in 2024, focused on current dialogues about creatives and space.
