15th century pew ends in St Winnows, on the Fowey estuary. The site was allegedly first established in the early 8th century by Saint Winnoc.

St Govan’schapel at St Govan’s head in Pembrokeshire. This is was built in the 13th century in honour of the Irish monk who lived in a cave on the same spot in the early 6th century. It is carved into the rock on three sides built entirely from stone including the roof.
Apparently the pounding of the surf, the screeching gulls and the sheer bleakness of the location makes it a great place to achieve complete obliteration of the ego. Any spiritual experience I could have had was obliterated by the screeching of my children. A pretty amazing place though.

A bit of pre-georgian hip action in the baking sun up at Blagdon hill on the side off the Blackdowns. A nice breeze and a view of Glastonbury Tor at the far end of the levels for added pleasure!

The painful irony of hewing timber right beside a fully functioning woodmizer was not lost on us.... however
these tie beams needed to be 7.5m so we decided it was a good excuse to go fully old school!
This particular broad axe was forged in the factory of Isaiah Blood of Ballston, NewYork over a hundred and fifty years ago. It’s a beautiful thing. Rings like a bell and cost me 25 quid at the Great Dorset steam fair. I would absolutely love to trace the building’s it’s been involved in over its life and it’s great to be still using it!
