You don't want to miss this: Dan Tran is teaching a still life class, open to everyone, on May 27th! Dan's class is a tasteful foray into drawing still lifes featuring some of his favorite foods, utensils and iconic sauce bottles. Dan's culinary curiosities will quench our thirst for new subjects in observational drawing, upending preconceived notions about what is allowed in the context of a still life drawing. Through his paintings, Dan interweaves his passions for cooking, flora and fauna, historical events, popular culture, and politics to form a body of work that celebrates global culture and brings awareness to social injustice. Unlike our typical classes and workshops, this one-off class is open for anyone, not just neurodiverse participants. The class will be from 5:30-7pm hosted at North Pole Studio. Don't miss your chance to take this exciting class! Book your spot with the link in our bio!

𝑰𝒇 𝑴𝒚 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝑪𝒍𝒐𝒄𝒌 May 23rd - June 28, 2026 Opening Reception May 23rd 1-4pm Mary Helena Clark Bill Eppinger Sarah Pucci Dan Tran John Tursi 𝐁𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐨'𝐬 58-42A Catalpa Ave. Ridgewood, Queens, NY Abiding, here on earth, is to be held in what comes and comes back around: hours, revolutions, weeks, coffees, tides, seconds, springs, rooster, peeing, gas station, rent, full moon, arousal, fall, taxes, nail-cuttings, grass-trimmings, berry-pickings, vacuuming, cooking dinner. Our passage through time, or its passage through us is… all of it to the degree that it's also maybe nothing at all, which is why visualizations and manifestations of the experience of being in time captivate us. In this exhibition, we wander about a plane on which a few delineations are placed: Love, Time, Devotion, Repetition, Boredom, Erotics. We ruminate (like the cows and the deer) on the ways these are entwined. Does Love suffuse Time? The works in this exhibition perk our senses towards some ways that slippery Time and Love might be located and perused for a moment. As our breath passes and repasses our humming lips, we count tenderly on. One, two, buckle my shoe, three, four, shut the door, five, six… Image description: A promotional flyer for an upcoming group exhibition, "If My Love is a Clock," opening at Bruno's in Ridgewood, Queens, on May 23rd. The flyer features work from artist Dan Tran's calendar series, characterized by rounded, flared crosses in a black, white, and red color palette. The piece is titled, "April 22-March 25."

Congratulations, Aaron, for becoming an officially published author! Big thanks to our friends at @‌elbow.room.pdx sharing your gallery space with us for the release and a reading of Aaron's new book: The Adventures of the Amazing Buttwole Man! Aaron’s book was published by World Egg Press, run by NPS staff member Phoebe Mol and Anthony Clementi, a local micropress that specializes in publishing poetry, comics, and art books by previously unpublished artists. Aaron’s book is a special one. It grew out of work he began during the Comics Intensive Phoebe led at NPS in summer 2024, and we are so glad we had the chance to bring it into the world and share it with so many people. Thank you to all who came out to celebrate Friday night. The turnout really blew us away! If you missed it, you can purchase a copy of Aaron’s book at Secret Room or Floating World Comics or by messaging @worldeggpress here on Instagram. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us!

We are excited to share that NPS artists Aaron Cunningham, Annie Rose Macer, and Dan Tran have been selected for the 2026 Converge 45 Triennial. Their work will be featured alongside Elbow Room artists Elmeater Morton, Michelle Fromme, and Ricky Bearghost in an exhibit curated by Lumi Tan at Oregon Contemporary. The 2026 Converge 45 triennial Here, To you, Now centers on experiences that bring people together—here and now—while celebrating the meaningful temporary communities that form around art. Inspired by the writing of Portland literary icon Ursula K. Le Guin, the triennial, features 28 artists and 17 new commissions that activate the city as a shared stage for discovery, dialogue, and connection. Here, To You, Now opens across 16 venues citywide with a weekend of receptions, performances, screenings, and talks August 27–30, 2026, with programming continuing through the fall. Congrats to all of the artists!
