What is Bealtaine? Bealtaine is the ancient Celtic festival welcoming the start of summer on May 1st. It marks the midway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice ☀️
The name ‘Bealtaine’, pronounced (byaal·tuh·nuh), is said to derive from Old Irish, meaning ‘bright fire’. Festival rituals and traditions included kindling special bonfires accompanied with a feast 🔥

Richard Kerrigan, aka @rickydrewapiccy . A self-taught creative from Bangor whose work is a messy mix of digital art, sketches, print, paint and photography.
Work is focussed on social observations, satire, Irish themes, and a twist on local lingo. It’s anti-Live, Laugh, Love art. It will make you smile. Or cry. Or hopefully both. Based in Boom Studios, Bangor
Nichola is an illustrator and painter based in Belfast. Her work serves as a source of healing, often inspired by words drawn from her journals, songs, books, or even TV shows. She primarily illustrates landscapes, finding peace and comfort in the outdoors. While the subject matter is grounded in natural scenery, the colours reflect her mood, which is why her work often shifts with the seasons. Her main focus is to create artwork that heals, and if it brings joy and comfort to others, that is a welcome bonus. You can find her work on Instagram @nichholairvine or purchase at
