September 1st, 2024.  A day of love, joy, celebration, of two becoming one.  A day we decided that now was the perfect time, that God unctioned us into a deeper covenant.  This life, this love, this marriage has been the easiest “yes” of our lives. Baldwin once said, “Love is a growing up.” And that is what this love has done. Through the golden, honey-dripped days that said this love was the land flowing of milk and honey to the valley days of world-shattering loss, it has been us building a foundation that withstands it all, that grows and deepens through it all.  This our safest space, our sanctuary, our hallelujah and yes, amen, our strengthening and softening, our signed, sealed, delivered, our belly aching laughter, our travels to distant lands, our cherishing of all things Black, our forever slow dances, our anointed promise. We breathe in God’s love through the love He’s allowed us to experience.  So, on this blessed day, we turned Brooklyn’s Legacy Records into our holy land. A place where Black art, culture and love abounds, where we are the legacy. It felt right, wed at Legacy Records on 247 Water Street. 24/7 water, we’d been reflective of this, married on place that says we flow, we reflect, we move in waves, together always, 24/7.  With the new year fastly approaching, we reflect on 2025 and our one-year anniversary milestone. And of our many thoughts and realizations, the flyest thing is there’s still so much more love to experience. We’re excited to gather more family and friends to celebrate our union in the future. In the meantime, bless.

35 📍 I'm here. For the longest, I lived in a state of bewilderment. Surprised that baby boy from 20th street, little Boop Money from grammom's stoop, made it this far. Younger me never saw a path to this life. Now, I'm no longer surprised. I got here by doing the work and being good to people. A lot more of that to come. I'm also one of the jiggiest. A LOT more of that to come. My prayer, for me and all of us, is to uncover our purpose. To live in it, while not feeling pressured to commodify it (unless that's a part of the plan). Be real.
