🌟 What an incredible May Day at Arkwright Meadows Community Gardens! 🌟
As part of Stage the City, our Meadows group brought the music, the movement, and a lot of great energy to a sunny afternoon on Saturday 2 May!
Big thanks to everyone who took part, all the amazing participants, @amcgardens for hosting us, EXCHANGE CIC & Notts Community Choir for their special guest performance, and Gemma Caseley-Kirk for the set design.
Also big love to theatre director @benjohnsoncreatives for his vision and support in bringing everything together so beautifully.
We’ve got more opportunities coming up to get involved with Stage the City in the Meadows, so keep an eye out for more info soon.

What happens on a CENTRE STAGE day? 🎭
Students start by watching a live performance, bringing bold, high-quality theatre straight into their school.
Then, they step into it.
Breaking off into groups, they take to the stage and explore what they’ve just seen through practical workshops led by the professional artists themselves. From physical theatre to performance techniques, it’s all about learning by doing.
It’s hands-on, collaborative, and gives young people a chance to build confidence in a new, professional environment.

One year on from an unforgettable CENTRE STAGE moment in partnership with the amazing @pushtheatre and we’re still thinking about it! 🎭
Since 2017, CENTRE STAGE has been at the heart of what we do at Nonsuch Studios, putting young people right at the centre of the theatre-making process.
Working with young people across Nottinghamshire, the programme brings world-class performance into schools and creates space for young people to explore, create, and build new skills alongside professional artists.
It’s about access, confidence, and giving young people the chance to experience theatre in a way they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to.

WHAT A STELLAR TAKEOVER FESTIVAL! 🌟 🪐👽 From start to finish, the space was buzzing with energy, creativity and community spirit as young people truly took over and brought their ideas to life.
A huge shoutout to all the talented young creatives, volunteers, performers and partners who made the day possible. The festival once again proved just how powerful youth-led creativity can be building confidence, showcasing talent and bringing the community together in such a unique way.
Thank you to everyone who came along, got involved and supported the event.
We’re so proud of what was achieved and can’t wait to see what the future holds… 👀
