Feliz Nochebuena, mis amores 🥰 Blessed to spend the hols in SoFlo🌴 with family and friends, but sorry y’all—this post is literally for the (wetland) birds 🥹🪺 specifically the roseate spoonbill and glossy ibis, which sparkle prettier than a tree 🥹🎄 Belly is so full of pernil and pastel de calabaza that I’m basically the gator in the sixth slide (probs after eating the cute lil conejo in the third slide 🥲) Yet as doubly exhilarating and excruciating as this year has been, no hardship in our family this year has hurt greater than the devastation wrought by #HurricaneMelissa in Jamaica. Hard to believe that it has been a year (a whole year? only a year??) since taking over Chelsea Theatre in London to bring writer/director @loveliestt ’s incredible @onelastdrinkplay to life 🤗 In the spirit of celebrating more wins, I am thrilled to share how much of an honour, growth experience, and joy it was to be a part of this beautiful story. From table read to the final curtain 🤗 Krystal is the kind of character who takes your all as an actor: noooooo inhibitions 😅 Given the difficult subject matter, I had worried at first about how to reconcile the characters’ pain with her “comic relief”: loud, wild, irreverent, and man-crazy to the end 😂 But the truth is that *especially* when life is hard, we all need a Krystal. And as strong as her light shines, still make sure to check on her and show love, because even if they never show it, deep down the Krystals of the world need you too 😘 Will always cherish @andrefyffe_ ’s unhinged improv char dev sessions, @alexstayhungry being a consummate gentleman, zen group meditations led by the incomparable @harriett_og , being fed and looked after by @reyola_b and @tia.afaa , @nataliefranceofficial ’s insistence that Watford is still part of London (…) and ofc legendary side-eye and shenanigans between me and @lizziealabi ’s character Temi (as captured in my live on-stage selfie) 😂 Cheers to this cohort of exquisitely talented and beautiful black women (plus Alex and Andre 😜), as well as my loves who came to support 🥰 Can’t wait to be back on stage! Tried to roast chestnuts in the oven—y’know, like the song says? They EXPLODED. Everywhere. Did I know what I was doing? No. Did I look up how to do it properly? Also no 😂 Barely enjoyed the anticipated scent and spent ages cleaning up my oven. Who knew one uncovered busted nut could make such a mess?! …anyway, here’s an assortment of my Yuletide adventures this year: wholesome, heauxlsome, and everything in-between. Cheers to all the lovely industry events, auditions, and workshops to connect with other artists (#ActorLife); last-minute grant proposals and business development meetings; celebrating at farms and palaces, Epsom salt baths to heal after #pole shoulder mount training and ice skating in the same day; 12hr drag brunch with the best girls ever; learning how to bake pumpkin pie; (unintentionally😅) annual Christmas hang with the lovely @sakshiiv with whom I survived LSE and will miss dearly🥹; the South London version of 🇯🇲 Grand Market; tinsel, sorrel, and USB-powered fairy lights; this stunning city so dear to my heart, and inviting @oresanderson ‘round mine to make Sainsbury’s poxy version of a gingerbread house—only to realise I’ve not got any stencils or eggs. Halloween 2024, you were a home run 😉 Special thanks to @akilapolestudio and @hohaiyens for a scarily good jam session and performances, @oresanderson and @philg94 for the best vibes, the genius @byronxanjac & fellow cast/crew for a terrifyingly brilliant European premiere of the Amityville Horror at the haunted @brooksidetheatre , denizens of London for the Tube fancy dress procession that almost had me feeling like I was back in the Halloween Parade in NYC, and finally *that car park scene* in #WomanOfTheHour that almost had me give up the ghost. Because as they say, no story is scarier than real life. Speaking of which… Now onto the most frightful season of all: the US presidential election! 😱👻🫣 GO VOTE! 🇺🇸

Before today’s rehearsal for @onelastdrinkplay —can’t wait to see you all there next wk!—I just felt like practicing tricks I’d learned recently or long ago… in silence 😂 Surprisingly, I managed way more than I thought I could! Almost like, with the right support, after 14 years of Tory hell…I mean, 14 months of injury recovery…I finally conquered the political, I mean musculoskeletal OPPosition! That must be why the clips somehow went perfectly with the new Black National Anthem; ty @kendricklamar 💪🏾🖤 Today’s reminder to anyone watching that freedom is never free; our rights and quality of life are hard-fought, and Our. Votes. Matter. The last time the UK royally fucked up a vote, the US shortly followed suit…let’s both get it right this year!
