One thing that stuck with me after last weeks is how nature resembles life’s relationships. It holds so much knowledge if we’re ready to listen.
This morning, I was journaling, and one sentence stayed with me: “Being ready before you’re ready, the right time is when there’s still some fear.”
>
You pick fruit right before it’s fully ripe.
This stay in nature felt like one big spiritual therapy session. Feeling gratefull and proud that im taking these steps. A lot of inspiration for my heart and art.
Also learned a thing or two. Did you know Noni is a fruit? Did you know she smells terrible. But she is also super healthy and healing. 👸🏽🫀🍃🌱 🧚🏾♀️
Carried

A painting about that feeling of lying in the ocean, the feeling of being carried by the water, by the presence and memories of ancestors. In the water, intentions and affirmations are set, held, and supported. In that drifting, floating feeling, there is this reminder: You can carry yourself. You build a life with tools that support you. You are building a life that carries you. Trust in this.
Like a lover who gives that same sense of being held and carried, while at the same time helping you shine and remember that you can carry yourself to.

This painting is inspired by a reading I received on my birthday last year. In that reading, it became clear that I carry something in my heart, a heart wound. Not just mine, but something that has been passed down through generations.
Where women in my lineage haven’t always felt or been safe to fully rest in their gentleness, in their sensitivity, in their softness. There has been a kind of holding, protecting, a shaping of self.
During the reading, I saw a clear image of myself leaning against a tree on my ancestral land in Curaçao, land that is still in my family, where we have a home, a place that feels sacred to me. I was also being held by my ancestors. They were supporting me, protecting me. Affirming the strength within these parts of me, and to trust / walk that path is also to honor them.
I’m beginning to understand that this is something that belongs to me. Something I don’t have to hide or move away from, but something I move from within this world.
Yesterday I hosted a beautiful Paint & Heal Ancestral Waters Edition at @atelier_code_noir Noir. The evening began with a lovely diner by Code noir , followed by a workshop surrounded by my exhibition “The weight of gentle things” drawing inspiration from its theme.
There were beautiful conversations, shared insights, moments of vulnerability, even a few tears and above all, genuine connection.
As I sat there, taking it all in, I felt so grateful for this journey that continues to bring such amazing souls into my life. It’s special to see how my art and the workshops I host with @peindreenkura come together and strengthen each other.
Back to last week New Moon gathering:
Ancestral Echoes and Creole Tomorrows at @atelier_code_noir hosted by @marinemagdalene and @nonimadeleine 🌊🌚
The perfect occasion to reflect on the meaning of spirituality while at the crossroads of so many cultures and identities. But also write our prayers and intentions for ourselves, our loved, our community for the next season. 🌸
Thank you to everyone who showed up, the evening was enlightening and recomforting.
May Spring be gentle and full of blessings for all of you! 💌✨
