De werktitel was โWaarom we blevenโ. Het is mijn interpretatie, mijn hoop, over ons๐ชข

Next Tuesday, @kortfilmfestival Leuven and @kortfilm.be present the co-curated short film programme โReclaiming Archivesโ, which compiles postmodern militant works by artists rooted in Iran, Syria, Iraq, and Palestine.
In this programme, political-historical images, Google Maps, and Palestinian flowers all serve as devices of resistance. How a handshake between world leaders destroys countless lives, while a manipulated video of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei drafts an alternative reality: these filmmakers rewrite their history in a claim for a different future.
The programme will be introduced by ACAB KINOโs Noah Isa Berhitu (@nofable ) and followed by a conversation with filmmaker Saleh Kashefi, and features works by Mahdi Fleifel, Saif Alsaegh, Theo Panagopoulos, Issa Touma, Thomas Vroege, Floor van der Meulen, Razan AlSalah, and Kashefi.
โ All ticket revenues will go to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (@palestineredcrescent ), an independent Palestinian organisation that provides humanitarian aid, healthcare, and social services to Palestinians in Palestine and the Palestinian diaspora.

Part of the shorts programme Site-Making, along four other beautiful films. โSite remains an essentialโif not enduringโaspect of cinema. Site shapes cinemaโs form, and cinema redefines our perception of site. Here, site does not appear as a representationโas something shown as it isโbut instead undergoes a process of making and performing through filmic practices. This programme, which consists of five films, asks the audience to problematise the meaning of site by looking at how site is made.โ Read more via the link in my bio๐๐
Thursday 13 November, Fireplace Cinema and ACAB Kino invite the filmmaker His film ๐พ๐ค๐๐ค๐ฃ๐ช๐ฉ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ง๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ takes us on a journey in the heart of the Thursday Film Series at Ibadan University, Nigeria. What starts off as a weekly film club, becomes a beating heart for a student uprising. The screening will be followed by a community conversation on the critical potential of non-institutional, self organised film initiatives.

Documentary, France/Nigeria, 89โโจโจEvery Thursday, a group of students from the University of Ibadan, the oldest in Nigeria, organizes a film club, transforming a small amphitheater into a political agora where they refine their vision and develop a critical voice. Coconut Head Generation, a scornful expression to designate a stubborn and brainless youth, takes on a whole new meaning when the students turn this stigma around to claim their freedom of thought.
After the screening, film researcher Gawan Fagard and the ACAB Kino collective will host a community conversation with Alain Kassanda and the audience, exploring the potential of self-organised, non institutional microcinemas in peripheral and precarious conditions. To what extend does the screening room transform into a temporary safe space, a rehearsal room for new ideas, a revolutionary foyer, or a space for social emancipation? How to negotiate notions of inclusivity versus exclusivity, political necessity versus film aesthetics, film exhibition politics, the economy of electrical currents fueling the screenings? This event takes place in the framework of Fireplace Cinema, a research project on cinema, community and reconfigurations of the economy of empathy through film by Gawan Fagard. This event is a collaboration between Fireplace Cinema, ACAB Kino, Cinemaximiliaan and Universitรฉ Libre de Bruxelles.

โDisaster ruins everything while leaving everything as it is,โ wrote Maurice Blanchot. Everything. From the southern districts of Beirut into south Lebanon, a car winds its way through the devastated country. No title could capture such desolation.
Before the screening, there will be a video introduction by The Camelia Committee @cameliacommittee (Mira Adoumier @miraadoumier , Carine Doumit and Nour Ouayda @nouayda ). Afterwards, there will be time and space for discussion, decompression and exchange. Weโre here to learn from each other and gather tools to overthrow the rotten, imperial core. From within the belly of the beast, there is no greater struggle than the one against ignorance!

ACAB KINO is a self-organised cinema space for community, solidarity, counterculture and resistance. It is a space for and by people organising against the systemic oppression worldwide by Western imperialism, resulting in numerous ongoing genocides, state police violence and common fascism, serving only the capitalist powers.
