There's always a bit of waiting to be done between finishing a build and digging into the edit (scripting, approvals, recording etc etc.)
This time around I'm filling the gap with a d-bit grinder, and all the associated learnings. (Thanks Stefan)
Having the ability to whip up tiny tools such as these, and indeed even tinier, will be very handy when it comes to the miniscule parts required for my next exercise in self flagulation.
Just playing around with silver steel for now - as the dust collection situation isn't really carbide-ready.
I love it when Christmas comes early.
The suspiciously talented, degree-dodging wordsmith from Down Under @noengineerhere (in collaboration with @niroc_tools ) has produced a limited run of this scribe/punch set, and honestly - they're a straight-up work of art.
Grab em' while stocks last. Don't want to miss out on owning a piece of history, now do ya?

Cool tools heading your way this week.
Unlike conventional “three-axis” alternatives, the tools in this set can be used at any angle, on any face, in any orientation.
You might say that’s a gimmick, but I say it’s simply what a well-made scribe and punch should do.
Proudly designed and manufactured in Australia, in collaboration with NIROC tools.

Spent the day playing with capstans and fibre lasers with @niroc_tools - Corin spoiled me with a beautiful pair of custom laser-knurled carbide center punches, and I hear there's some reamers and scribes in the post.
Really sorry to say, but you won't be able to get a set for yourself...
Yet.
Some glamour shots of my submission for #toolroomtakeover2025, a mechanical video title generator for @alecsteele
The mechanism behind it's operation isn't dissimilar from an odometer, making use of intermittent gear teeth to incrementally, and progressively rotate each of the drums.
As always, there's a bucket of things I'd do differently if I ever got to a version two, but as it stands I reckon I've gotta call it a magnum opus.
If you haven't already seen it, there's a full build video up on YouTube.
