BARKING DOGS SELDOM BITE @gabrielgifford is officially yours. Watch now (link in our bio) In creating Barking Dogs Seldom Bite, Gabriel aimed to capture pure distress, an unfiltered eruption of emotion previously concealed behind his music. Beneath its coarse textures, the track presents a more tender narrative on mental health. Gabriel became fixated on the ‘Black Dog’ as a metaphor for depression—a figure also rooted in East Anglian folklore, where he was raised. The song playfully references other old English idioms, reinterpreting them in a depressive, mournfully sentimental context. The video, shot at Hackney’s MOTH Club—a venue originally formed to support former servicemen—draws inspiration from a ‘cult-like’ experience Gabriel had at a local spiritualist church with his father, months before his suicide. A surreal experience that seemed to reflect the nuance and eccentricity of community, mental health, and the supernatural. The video explores these themes with a contemporary lens. The cast of Seirian Griffiths, Caterina Danzico, Genevieve Reeves, and Tia May Hockey each performing iterations of their ‘dog’ - a physical manifestation of the characters individual demons and trauma. NOSTALGIA OUT TOMORROW 10.10 @harveycauson forming the idea for Nostalgia around AI samples created from 70’s records, went on to distinguish lyrics backed by his intrigue surrounding dialogue on artificial intelligence. Discovering an article on social media ‘graveyards’, that promoted that there are more people dead online than there are alive users - ushered questions around the ethics of A.I and the commodity of personal data. This track and film reflects on the regurgitative and imposed risks of A.I, impacting the the loss of interest in the nuances of human creativity. Cracking open the hippocampus of this subject - this brief was a true collaboration between traditional moving image and open source generative adversarial networks. An exercise into our boundaries working with A.I systems and vice versa. As filmmakers, challenging us on how we understand it and how it interoperates us - the tension between flesh and hardware. All profits raised will be donated to @unicef Gaza Crisis Appeal. Ojo De Dios farms and transforms their award winning mezcal in the mountains of San Luis del Rio region of Tlacolula, which is a municipality within the state of Oaxaca Mexico. The traditions of Mezcal production run deep here, with many generations of locals owing their livelihood to it. ODD Hibiscus is one-of-a-kind. We’re so happy to announce our next guest @magnuswestwell … Magnus is a Scottish Composer and Choreographer based in London. Magnus is currently a Young Associate Artist at Sadler’s Wells, with their work performed across the UK and Europe in theatre, club, gallery and festival contexts. Magnus’ creations can be raw, romantic and haunting, often looking at the extremes of ecstasy and emptiness, as well as their experience of being queer and neurodivergent. . In live sets, Magnus manipulates violins to create complex soundscapes, experimenting with how orchestral textures can exist within contemporary electronic music. .
