The cyber sigil/chrome type style barbed forms are inherently algorithmic. Making a drawing tool that generates those forms in nodes was, therefore, a fairly straightforward task. For the most part. It took me a bit longer than I was expecting. But mostly because I would get lost in a doodle trance for long stretches of time while working on.
It’s a very hypnotic tool to use.
And I’m releasing it to all Node Dojo members today.

I just love that my first attempt to using physics simulations to create forms immediately generated a silly putty looking form. This was never a goal of mine… it just went that way.

I need to actually make a video showing every freaking brilliant thing I figured out for these flutes. Of the over the top unnecessary and out of pocket things I’ve programmed in nodes this year of 2024 these flutes are … well.. def in the top ten. It’s got a lot of contenders this year was clown shoes.
Fun fact: the stretching string (intended to be TPA filament irl) being physically responsive to the flute body like that was actually just an accident. A natural by product of using the flute geometry as a dynamic reference for the string itself. I built it so that if the flute body design parameters changed the string and the flue and everything else would adapt. The fact that I can pick it up and make it seemingly act like an elastic string was…. Incidental. Cool huh?
But if I released these nodes would ya’ll download?
