A true world builder, Mathilde extends this universe beyond the record: across visuals, artwork, and her A/V live show, recently performed at Paradiso and Cinetol. There, her body becomes the instrument, triggering visuals and manipulating music in real time while her voice pulls you deeper into Mathilde’s inner world.

Today Mathilde Nobel unveils BLUFF, the third single from her upcoming album Wide Awake Open. Nobel’s new work emerges from deep introspection, where fragmented feelings, ritual and transformation collide inside meticulously sculpted electronic environments. Built from frugal synth plucks, tripped delays and a vocal that cuts straight through the fog, BLUFF plays with restraint and emotional volatility.

Today we share the title track WIDE AWAKE OPEN, a song that confronts the slow digestion of overwhelming emotion and the traces it leaves in the body and the world around it. The track became the foundation of the album, which will be released on the 10th of April.
The lyrics move with striking directness. Rooting deep, cracking open, triggering the self in order to process what lingers beneath the surface. Vulnerable lines unfold almost like a personal ritual of exposure and repair.

I dig deep / Trigger myself / Wide Awake / Open
Yet the music moves in another direction. Orchestral swells and war like drums push the composition toward theatrical excess, tipping the song into a strange territory between sincerity and self parody.

With the help of @chaggylalala and @thunderboomr during my trajectory for Open Culture Tech, I came to discover my deeper interest in technology and used the Genki Wave ring to influence and trigger my visuals, music and vocals by hand gestures.
I try to use the body as an element of storytelling and experience the music through movement.

Following a striking live debut at Paradiso for @stoorlab , Mathilde Nobel returns on April 2 to Cinetol with a live show built around her upcoming album Wide Awake Open. Blending deconstructed electronics, layered vocals and a performative, body-led setup, she reshapes the music in real time into something raw and immersive. This is the first chance to step into the world of the album ahead of its April 10 release.
