NEW BALANCE is recruiting curious, motivated early career talent for their 1 Year Design Apprenticeship across apparel and footwear. This is an exciting opportunity to learn how great products are designed, developed, and brought to life.
As a Design Apprentice, you will:
• Be an instrumental part of the global design community
• Experience, learn, and contribute to all aspects of our design process and culture, including research, ideation, and design development
• Work closely with global design, product management, and product development teams
• Join the apprentice community, attending learning capsules to build both technical and soft skills
• Develop real, transferable skills in a fast paced, collaborative environment while honing your craft and growing professionally
Program Details:
• 1 Year Program | Starts July 2026
• Several Apprentice opportunities available across Apparel and Footwear
• Based in Massachusetts, working out of either our Boston HQ or Lawrence location (based on team assignment)
• Hybrid schedule: in office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Last summer, Rory interned with Steve Madden’s Handbag Design Team, gaining hands-on experience from concept to production.
⭐️Created handbag tech packs, spec sheets, and CAD tile sheets for presentations
⭐️Communicated with factories to develop samples and hardware
⭐️Designed an original handbag silhouette with 12 SKUs for production - with one design (in two colorways!) now available at Macy’s!
⭐️Designed 7 bag charms for Spring Market
⭐️Developed the Fall 2027 trend board for the VP of Design

2027 EYEWEAR TREND REPORT with Selin Olmsted Studio Selin Olmsted Studio is an independent B2B eyewear design studio based in Brooklyn, New York, specializing in design, product development, sourcing, and industry-leading trend forecasting. The studio works with global fashion, eyewear, and technology brands.
Creative Director Selin Olmsted will host a complimentary guest lecture highlighting the latest trends in eyewear design, manufacturing, and materials. The presentation will explore the key trends shaping sun and optical eyewear for 2027, including emerging acetate codes, lens specifications, and innovative manufacturing techniques.
