He celebrated my writing before it was worth reading. From the first day he read a letter I wrote, he said (in jest) "If you write like this, your husband will never be able to stay angry with you"
He celebrated my cooking before it was any good. Each time I paid a visit, he requested a meal I cooked and praised me to high heavens (even if it was too spicy).
He celebrated my person and made me feel worthy, accepted and loved. It didn't matter how important his guests were, once I walked in, he would should "Nenabekee! That's my sister's daughter! Do you know she's a doctor? I bought her a car on her graduation!"
He was the first man of his age who I knew for tell children he loved them, openly and proudly. He was audacious and ambitious and he expected the same of you. I remember he asked me to join the Navy after medical school but I wasn't having it 🤣
You will never be forgotten.
