prayer 3:33
this exploration has been around holding a shared space for expression of our various spiritual practices. coming from different strands of the sacred, to meet and share prayer through our practices with sound. trying to find material and spiritual intimacy with electric forces - will say more about this on another occasion, at the moment it is still being nurtured in the doing.
Will share the recording soon.

Viola, Cello, Voice and Live Electronics x Wearables for Ambisonics.
Roxanna Albayati (tšello/hääl), Kristjan Kannukene (vioola/hääl) ja Nicole Bettencourt Coelho (alias NMBC, elektroonika) moodustavad trio, kelle teosest "Määratu määr" ("The Vast Extant") kõlab Üle Heli festivalil Kristjan Kannukese poolt arranzeeritud ambisooniline fixed media versioon. Teos on saanud pealkirja Lavinia Greenlawi raamatu “The Vast Extent: On Seeing and Not Seeing Further” järgi.
In these times I just want to uplift how much focused intention through music as a practice can do so much in terms of connection, processing, intimacy and belonging. These stills are from a really precious sharing at @treadwellsbooks with treasured pen pal, charmed musician and mystic ponderer @baal_mortimer . The performance was a wildly vulnerable experience of being present in all the worlds through public ceremony with a collaborator within electronic music practice. To do so at Treadwell's which has always given me so much encouragement, support and understanding, wherever the research has taken me within this particular line of studies, before I had any language for it or any idea of where to start, (both very within and very without the academy).., offering a space where practitioners and researchers with understanding of the intricacies of navigating these various structures - was and is so deeply cherished. I feel beyond grateful. Shout-out to the places, practices and people that encourage and give us space to be our fullest selves. And let's be those people for each other. Thank you Alex, Christina - and a very special mention to the ascended hound Rambo who was there at the beginning, you will always be in my heart.

A screendance film which emerged from interdisciplinary improvisation within the Guildhall School of Music & Drama's newly formed Live Electronics Ensemble, led by electronic and produced music professor Nicole Bettencourt Coelho.
Improvised sound and movement seeking to find relationship and intimacy between them. A vulnerable exploration of encountering the self, while holding space for the other, as one departs from the named and the known. Focusing on hyper attention to micro-movements both inner and outer, while negotiating between the expressed, the latent and the unexpressed in this process. A haunting unravelling through layers of emotional and aesthetic precarity, as musicians and movement artist meet each other within the crystalline uncertainty of a shared liminal space unfolding in real-time.
Directed by Joseph Campbell and Oscar Oldershaw.
Movement Artist: Fortune Tailed Beast
Costume Designer: Izzi Valentine
Stylist: Meg Jordan
Verbatim Sound : Improvised and Recorded at Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Featuring Eleanor Fineston-Roberston (Violin) and Benjy Sandler (Clarinet) - live sampled and processed by three additional Guildhall musicians Stefano de Stefano (Max), Chloe Mason (DAW) and Henry McLean (Analogue Delay).

Join us at Treadwell's @treadwellsbooks for a night of live music and full moon Aries ritual magic. Activating the internal spaces of autonomy through sonics and voicing.
In this special event, musicians Alexandra Gruebler and Nicole Bettencourt Coelho lead a community ritual, conjuring portals through immersion in drone notes and vocal polyphonies. Described as an 'alchemical communion', expect a night of textured soundscapes and invocation where the musicians share practice and process from their recent pilgrimage to Saeva Dupka cave.
Participants will be guided to join construction of the sound field, and to call-in, explore and integrate desire, dream and wish-making through voice, toning and a participatory sonic art piece "Wishes in the Water".
This event marks the launch of Revelore Music (an entity within Revelore Press based in London, UK). Revelore Music invites musicians, sound artists and dancers exploring the mediums of sound and movement in a ritual and spiritual context to share their practice, and build a collective archive.
Join for refreshments and soirée in the bookshop upstairs afterwards.

As the Sun descends into the autumnal equinox, join Batool Desouky, Nicole Bettencourt Coelho, and J.M. Hamade in a conversation around sound, magic, and art in relationship to time and the movement of the celestial spheres. With the upcoming founding of Revelore Music, as well as the release of Hamade's book Procession of the Night Theatre: An Exposition on the Lunar Stations (Revelore Press 2024), the three artists will discuss like-themes of Kairotic and sidereal time, astrological magic, talisman creation, and how they relate to sound, process, and music. The night will culminate in a 20 minute collaborative work of sonic-ritual, based on similar principles aroused through the evening's discussion. 🔗 in stories / bio . . .
