Flying visit to Bristol but managed to catch 2 great shows. Soft Power: lives told through textile art @rwabristol curated by @alicekettle featuring 2 dress sculptures by @susiemacmurray . And @bristolmuseums @jessica_a_ashman #20/20 @unioftheartslondon commission for Bristol's collection, emphasising how the knowledge of Jamaican natural history collections would have come from enslaved Africans.

Brilliant day out in Bradford yesterday. Everywhere was killing it. Cartwright Hall @bradfordmuseums looking amazing with the Jameel Prize @vamuseum @art_jameel and the @nationalportraitgallery portrait of Omai on its UK tour. Saad Qureshi's imposing public sculpture. @impgalleryphoto exhibition by Clare Hewitt complete with the occasional birdsong. And Tape Letters by @modusarts at the new pop up venue Loading Bay showing some of the archive of cassette tape letters between families in Pakistan and the UK. Congratulations @bradford_2025

Incredibly powerful promenade performance and post show discussion Public Interest by @common_wealthhq as part of @bradford_2025 about how the law of joint enterprise results in many young people serving long jail sentences for crimes they didn't commit because they were once in a music video with the perpetrator. Created with victims and their families, telling real stories. Urgent, compelling and important social justice work.

Amazing show To Improvise A Mountain: Lynette Yiadom-Boakye Curates @leedsartgallery @hayward.gallery A poetic conversation between contemporary and historic work inspired by how Lynette sees the world. Merits revisiting a number of times - looking forward to those lunch breaks already.

A bit late to the party, but I finally caught @chilaburman 's exhibition @imperialwarmuseums north Chila Welcomes You. Wonderful to be surrounded by such vibrant colours and sounds. It tells a powerful narrative about her father's migration to the UK. Liked the film collaboration with students from @schoolofdigitalarts @manmetuni too.

Quick trip over to @livcathedral last week to see Helios by @lukejerramartist and hear him speak about his practice whilst sitting underneath the glowing sun. After this showing, it continues its tour around lots of @nationaltrust properties.
