We consume music at such a rapid rate in 2025 that itās become pretty rare to sit down and REALLY listen to a song.
Sure, us ad folks might do so for a production, but hearing something 700 times in an edit will make even your favourite track sound like a three-minute recording of two raccoons fighting.
But this new one for @droga5 + @generalmotors was a bit different. And we werenāt just sitting and listening to the song - we were pointedly breaking it down, piece by piece; taking every stem from Elvis and the Royal Philharmonic; refreshing them, reimagining them, and then⦠naturally⦠taking them to a bunch of people in an automotive factory in Michigan and choreographing to them, assigning one instrument to every step on the assembly line.
This project kicked off with a huge music search (shoutout @ladmanmusic + @mara.techy ), but I had a hunch early on that nothing was going to beat this song. And as soon as I heard THAT VOICE come in on our first demo (fittingly, driving at the time), I knew that was it.
Kudos to the whole team on this one, and long live The King! š
While this here grid has usually been for more of the ālife stuffā, man⦠this project really has been my life for the past few months. So damn excited to see the first taste of āPor Amorā out in the world.
With four spots, four unique styles of Latin music, and a whole stack of studio sessions in Mexico City, this thing was an absolute beast to say the leastā¦āØāØBUT it was also one of the most genuinely fulfilling jobs Iāve ever been a part of - some killer creative from theĀ @anomaly crew (thanksĀ @bendorenfeld ā¤ļø), and a means to collab with some of the most amazing artists (and humans!) that Iāve met throughout my time here -Ā @laurorobles AKA Lao ofĀ @n_a_a_f_i , Ā @camilolara , @mar_carrion many more. āØ
First up: a new remix of a bolero classic from Lao + NAAFI - a crew thatās been described as āredefining Mexican Club Musicā, āat the forefront of a new freedom spreading through the global undergroundā⦠and one thatās been single-handedly responsible for a few of my moreā¦. err⦠rambunctious nights in CDMX. Way to smash this one,Ā @laurorobles !
MÔs muy pronto! @donjuliotequila

~ SLIGHTLY NERDY STORY TIME~
1-4 - This is LeBron James. He just became the NBAās all-time leading scorer and I was damn well lucky enough to be in the building for it.
5 - This is my mate, Fazz - my teammate and partner-in-crime in high school hoops. We were the Shaq and Kobe of suburban Sydney Division B basketball, if you will. When we were teenagers, our dads took us to the US to see LeBron play (thanks dads!), and this is the first game weāve been to together since then. Couldnāt imagine better company for it.
6 - This is my mate, Mitch. Over the past month, he finally put his Ivy League math degree to good use and started mapping out the statistical probability of LeBron breaking the record in any given game. That (combined with a lilā luck) landed me in Staples Center on this particular night, so cheers Mitchy Poo ya big nerd!
7 - This is Jay-Z. He doesnāt have a whole lot to do with the story but I was standing kinda near him and, I repeat, thatās MFnā Jay-Z.
The end.
