It was a real honor to be invited to participate in a pioneering exhibition by the Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art, an institution thatās making its mark in the art ecosystem. I was immersed in the sophistication of the collection by some of the most respected collectors and to be in their company made it even more special.
The biggest moments of an artistās career comes when their works are acquired by and shown in museums and other types of institutions - So to have the Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art @shyllonmuseum put on a non-selling exhibition to highlight the works of contemporary artists being acquired by local collectors is remarkable. Black female artists are doing amazing things in the contemporary space so I decided to showcase some of their works in my collection.
I hope it becomes an annual event which will highlight artists inspiring collectors in the country and perhaps continent.
The show is on till the 28th of February 2025 and though YSMA is a distance, I encourage you to make the trip and see what collectors in our community are collecting and why.
Kudos to the curating team, director of the museum @jesscastellote , Mr Yemisi Shyllon @yemisishyllon for his vision and generosity, my friend, the chairman of the Advisory Board of YSMA @diekolaaina and everyone else involved in making this happen.
A special thanks to @ark.insurance for sponsoring the event via underwriting the insurance for the artworks and also to Lola Pedros for serving us the delicious @Pedros Ogogoro.
Thank you š„
