In this conversation with @kolaayanwuyi , I shared thoughts on Èṣù and addressed some of the common misconceptions surrounding its place in Yoruba belief systems.
It is an important cultural conversation, one that invites understanding, context, and clarity.
As both, being a member of the Board of Trustees of the “Eko Tourism Foundation” (ETF) and the Grand Donor, Chairman of the Supervisory Council, of the “Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art, Pan-Atlantic University (YSMA), it was my pleasure and that of the Vice Chancellor, the DVCs and the top management team, of the Pan Atlantic University (PAU) and YSMA, to welcome the Chairman and esteemed members of the ETF, on a working visit to YSMA, on Monday, 11th May 2026.
The working visit, as led by former Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, provided both parties with the opportunity for some very far reaching and productive conversations, towards the further development of tourism in Lagos State, with the use of art and culture, including the continued development of Nigeria’s creative talents.
Art collecting is often seen as something distant reserved for a few.
But in truth, it begins simply, with interest, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
Every collection starts with a single piece. Over time, that piece becomes a journey one shaped by knowledge, experience, and personal connection.
I always encourage young people to approach art with openness. You do not need to begin with perfection; you begin with intention.
Start where you are. Grow as you learn. Let your journey with art evolve naturally.
Last year, I had the honour of donating a life-size bronze statue of Tai Solarin, to the Tai Solarin Federal University of Education in Ijagun, Ogun State. It is my tribute to the memory of this Nigeria’s most courageous voice, in education and the public life, of my country.
For many generations, Tai Solarin stood for discipline, intellectual courage, and the belief that education should be used to shape human character, as it shapes knowledge. His writings and life example, influenced countless the lives of youths, including mine, in the early part of my life.
The bronze statue, now stands on a very prominent and conspicuous location on the university campus. The statue is not only a monument, but serves as constant reminder to students and visitors, of the ideals of the person represented, of resilience, integrity, and selfless service to his nation.
Many times, it is important to look back at such periods of our nation’s history, since the purpose of preserving history, is to ensure that good such values left behind, are continued, in inspiring our people and their leaders, in the future.
Forged from metal scraps, this powerful bull stands as a symbol of courage, resilience, and unwavering resolve.
What was once fragmented now moves forward with strength reminding us that endurance is often born from transformation.

As we step into a new year, we do so with renewed clarity, purpose, and commitment.
The year ahead invites deeper reflection, stronger cultural conversations, and a continued dedication to knowledge, heritage, and education. Progress is not only measured by time, but by the ideas we preserve, share, and pass forward.
May this year inspire thoughtful dialogue, meaningful learning, and collective growth.
Happy New Year.
Here’s to wisdom, culture, and purpose. ✨
This season offers us the opportunity to reflect on knowledge, culture, history and the philosophies that shape how we live. At OYASAF, we keep learning and engaging with the world around us.
Through art, education, and cultural preservation, OYASAF continues its shared commitment to foster understanding, encourage thoughtful dialogues, and sustain our collective heritage.
As this year draws to a close, we at OYASAF, extend our warm Christmas wishes to our special community of friends and art lovers, partners, scholars and artists, across Nigeria and beyond.
May this season bring peace, good fortunes, and inspiration and may the history and philosophical thoughts that we daily consume with others, continue to better shape our tomorrow.
🎄✨ Merry Christmas & Season’s Greetings.

I am honoured to open the first exhibition of several artists in the Omooba Yemisi Adedoyin Shyllon Exhibition Hall at the National Museum of Unity Ibadan.
This is more than an opening event; it is a homecoming to the place where art, history, and education meet.
This space is designed to celebrate Nigeria’s past, provoke conversations about our present, and inspire future generations.
For me, this hall is part of a life purpose: a commitment to giving back, preserving heritage, and creating a legacy that will continue long after we are gone.
I extend my sincere thanks to the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM), and its current Director-General, Mr. Olugbile Holloway, for giving me the opportunity to make this vision possible. I must also thank the Deputy Director and Museum Curator, Mrs. Oriyomi Otuka, for meticulously executing this dream on behalf of us all. Together, we can build more than just walls; we can build lasting memories and legacies.
