11 years on from my first assignment as the Music Director for the nonpareil Queen of Singapore Mandopop @hellokitchan , it was a deeply moving experience watching her rehearsing for her upcoming music tour as an audience instead of commandeering the band from behind the keyboard. I’m eternally grateful that she has always placed such faith in me to lead her through many memorable shows across the region. The time has come for a new leadership to take her on a brand new (and bigger) voyage, and I’ve to say, her voice has never been as pristine and ready. @thecorrectjamesyeo I’m so glad you’re taking over the torch with steady hands, a huge adventure awaits you and the whole Kit Chan company! I will be keeping watch and wishing for safe winds and passage for everyone!

As a cruise lover, I had to take a couple hours off work to see this behemoth in person. And what a sight to behold (pardon the cliche)!
I took my first cruise back in the 1983 as a primary school kid. That vessel was the now-defunct Oriental Princess, a post-war utility ship converted into a passenger cruise ship. It was old and weathered, but as a wide-eyed kid exploring such a large vessel, the experience was quite something. That ship was around 18,000 gross-tonnage in size.
Fast forward 43 years, Singapore is now the home port to one of the largest cruise ships in the world, the Disney Adventure, and also the first Disney cruise line in whole of Asia. This giant is 208,000 gross-tonnage, absolutely dwarfing the Oriental Princess, and 4 times the size of the Titanic. It’s also the first 200k-tonnage cruise ship to berth in Asia. The prices for her cruise itinerary are off-the-charts crazy, but I’m happy just to finally witness human’s engineering marvel in person, floating idly off the Marina Bay cruise centre awaiting her first passengers. Lucky people!

Of all multi-disciplinary projects I’ve been involved in, VR60 produced by Sliding Doors Entertainment is undoubtedly one of the most complex and ultimately fulfilling ones. Kudos to @samantha_kan and her team who pulled together a global team of designers to make this a reality. @august.lum and I have never written soundtrack to a virtual reality film before and the process was at times mind boggling, at times really exhausting. “Rules” that both of us have learned in the industry and applied seamlessly were thrown out the window. The level of detail and imagination amplified when you put yourself in this matrix of a virtual world. But the team persisted. It was a lot of learning and experimentation, but all of us are quite proud of the result. Massive thanks also to @danielchaiguitar for his vital contribution in the high quality recordings and engineering (and many hours at there I must add!). Shout out too to @shazza.wav for her absolutely magical and heartfelt rendition of an NDP favourite at the final scene of this experience.
Not forgetting the various behind the scene collaborators from SDE, producers Justin, Wendi, Jean, and all the voice talents. Lastly but not least, my favourite cellist @livieee for your emotional playing in a couple of key scenes.
Do go to New Bahru to experience VR60. Limited run till March. It’s housed in a special building at the carpark.
Had one of the most memorable times at Feldberg, a ski region in the Black Forest mountains of southern Germany. The picturesque slopes are almost too beautiful to be real. Experienced both the bad and the good in two days — a snow storm, followed by a pristine sunny morning as shown in the pics. A great tonic for the soul. 🫶🏼
