at this point i am begging that you do something anything that can fundraise for palestine/lebanon and people who have been affected by this occupation, gen0cide, war crimes for generations.
i struggle every single night and day going to sleep imagining the worst possible scenarios, seeing the horrifying images in my mind and i wake up and spend the whole day on edge checking the news just to make sure my family is safe. checking the news to see how long its going to take for everyone to move on - though its already felt like it.
and i'm so grateful, we're not even there struggling everyday with this in person i cant even begin to fathom how it feels how their hearts break, the pain that comes with that.
but i'm devasted. i'm devasted at years lost in palestine for my grandma, my mom, my family. i'm devasted at family killed by oppression. i'm devasted that i never got to go and see my families homes in llyd, in acre. see my grandma and her friends and her family on their land. i'm devasted for my mom who never got to see where she comes from. a place that is now occupied by colonialists.
and i'm so scared. i'm scared that we will loose another home. another place that everyone managed to build a life in. i'm scared for my cousins my aunt my grandma the flower shop underneath her apartment. i'm scared for the south the north. i'm mourning everyday for hundreds of lives lost in a country which i consider a home - country that hasnt been the same in years.
i don't know how much further this is going to get but all i know is that people need our help. we need to fundraise organise protest get out there until freedom. the palestinians the lebanese the syrians the jordanians everyone don't deserve and have never deserved more decades of destruction and loss. its hurting generations. i cant even begin to fathom it but every day i feel it coming closer and its been hurting me and my mom for years.
there is no excuse right now to not do something anything - and i dont want to hear it.
do something. please. join @brightonqueers4palestine if youre local and if youre not join a different group we are everywhere.

A piece I wrote for watermelon zine for fundraising, as today is the 77th year anniversary of the Nakba in 1948 that forced my grandparents out of their homes, and thousands others through brutal force, burning and more
Despite writing this a while ago the sentiment of my survivors guilt still stands and my anger still prevails - I hope it does for all of you too to do something about the ongoing G

🏳️⚧️ “Adorning themselves with kohl-lined eyes, exposed skin and flowing veils - the Khawalat weren’t just performers - they were artists of their identity.”
“In the bustling streets of 19th-century Cairo, a group of dancers take the spotlight with Raqs Al-nahl (رقص النحل) - the Dance of the Bees.
Adorned with beautiful multicoloured flowing qamis, intricate henna, and sparkling jewellery, they move sharply, blurring the colonists’ idea of a gender binary. They were, the Khawalat.”

As some of you may know, my beautiful brave mother Mayada who is Palestinian but based in Europe was diagnosed with Stage 1B Cervical Cancer in November of 2023. The past month has been a whirlwind of emotions, love, support and pain. Inshallah, she is on the road to recovery and doing better each day.
In October, as we all know by now our homeland and our family (all Palestinians) have been going through the most traumatic experiences anyone should not endure and everyday our heart has broken more and more. It does not even equate to the loss and pain which Palestinians have faced for decades and right now as you read this.
This winter holidays, as a family we are asking that if you have the funds to spare to please donate to this GoFundMe on behalf of my mother Mayada, a Palestinian who has the immense priviledge of amazing healthcare that has helped her through a stroke, pneumonia, a broken leg, and much more that we are forever grateful for. As a retired WHO colleague she knows that anyone should have access to this healthcare and any medical aid whenever needed. The money raised will be going towards Medical Aid for Palestinians in the New Year. Which I will be donating to, I have raised money for the organisation before.
We thank you for all your support and love. Please never stop speaking about Palestine, never stop using your voice and never stop sharing the news.
With love and care, Nisreen and Mayada
More information about Medical Aid for Palestinians: Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. We provide immediate medical aid to those in great need, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system.
wrote something to try and process and articulate my feelings of whats been going on the past week. please read it all. keep posting about palestine. 🇵🇸❤️

@lobotr.on did this amazing piece of art work (full scale on my story) by commision and we are in love, their art is amazing please go and check out their page and commission them for your art needs!
today i made a speech in a tree and this is that speech (swipe to see it live): being at sussex we come from an extremely priviledged position and thats true- myself and everyone are so grateful for that but we have to acknowledge that there are extreme issues on this campus effecting the staff and the students
there are people at this university who have more privilege than most as they are not aware i of the pertabent racism homophobia classism and ableism which are effecting both the students and the staff
this university continues to upholds these values of discrimination by allowing a vice chancellor fueled by the motivation of profit for his own benefit and for the richs benefit without actually caring about the conditions he is putting on his students by gentrifying the campus or on his staff by cutting pensions, and increasing wage gaps
we are on a campus where the reality is that extremeist right wing societies are allowed to go around saying that BDS = BS even though sussex claims it is in support of the BDS movement
we are on a campus where we have to take weeks off for striking out in the cold and the rain because nothing is actually getting done and we are missing important people in these discussions
i ask where is adam tickell? where is dame denise? if they supposdly care so much about this university and their students then why aren't they and whoever else is involved out here talking to their staff and students
instead of caring about profit and capitalism and creating a bigger institution fueled on this, we need to see empathy instead empathy towards everyone standing here today empathy towards the students empathy towards all the staff and empathy for the people being marginalised on this campus trying their best to get their voices heard
