Had an amazing visit to @mfastpete - starting with a must see retrospective of @ninayankowitz work. Her art spans the gamut with excellence in ceramics, paint and mixed media with multiple efforts to collaborate with other artists. Capped with a tasty coffee and pastry and the cafe. Compact yet a joy to visit!

🎨 “Nina Yankowitz: In the Out/Out the In” opens June 21 at the MFA! Spanning six decades of fearless experimentation, this career retrospective celebrates Yankowitz’s groundbreaking work across painting, sound, video, installation, and performance. A founding member of the feminist Heresies Collective, Yankowitz has continually pushed the boundaries of media and meaning—collapsing the space between art and viewer, and bringing long-overlooked histories into the light. With early draped canvases, visceral audio works, immersive installations, and new multimedia collaborations, the exhibition is both a celebration and a course correction—giving overdue recognition to an artist who has always lived on the cutting edge. Experience Yankowitz’s world where the “outside” becomes “in,” and the unexpected is always at play. #NinaYankowitz #MFAStPete #IntheOutOuttheIn #FeministArt #InstallationArt #NewMediaArt #ContemporaryArt #HerstoryInTheMaking #ArtExhibition Images: - Draped Impotent Squares, 1969, Acrylic compressor spray on canvas, 104 x 66 in. - Dilated Grain Reading: Scanning Reds and Blues (detail), 1973, Extruded acrylic and Flashe on linen, 50 x 109 in. - Cantilevered Painting, c. 1997, Acrylic on wood - Ms. Majesty, 1970-71, Courtesy of the Artist and Eric Firestone Gallery, New York

I’m So proud of my brother-in-law Herb Leibowitz who was celebrated at Poets House in NYC last night as the distinguished publisher and editor of Parnassus Poetry In Review for fifty years! He has read solicited and unsolicited manuscripts for possible publication and critically discussed the material personally for every submission. His engagement of myriad multi cultural poetry, historical manuscripts, and contemporary text opinions he shared and explored with his staff has been the unique woven fabric culled from an array of global material for the magic Parnassus Poetry in Review has put forth.

Taking Venice Directed by Amei Wallach A fabulous film shown at Sag Harbor Cinema with a great discussion about making the 2023 Documentary Taking Venice. “At the height of the Cold War, curator Alan Solomon and art dealer Leo Castelli hatch a daring plan to make sure American painter Robert Rauschenberg wins the grand prize at the Venice Biennale, the world’s most influential art exhibition.” Pictures of myself, Amei Wallach and Emilia Kabakov
