𝘉𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥𝘴 - my largest public artwork to date, reflects the vibrant community of Wynwood, honoring the neighborhood’s history while looking toward its future. Using a palette of warm and cool tones, the facade brings together past and present, older and younger generations, and diverse communities.
Each panel depicts a figure in mid-jump, capturing a sense of movement, aspiration, and becoming, set against backgrounds of colorful, stylized plants inspired by native South Florida and Caribbean flora.
This work is part of Wynwood Works, a mixed-income, mixed-use development made possible through a partnership between the Omni CRA, Magellan Housing, and the Udonis Haslem Foundation, supporting long-term housing stability and preserving Wynwood’s cultural fabric.
A big thank you to Bakehouse Art Complex for curating and managing the public arts selection. Along with Blooming Worlds, several Bakehouse artists have work visible throughout the building’s beautiful public spaces.

🌿 Step into the spirit of nature with Earth Gate, the latest installation for our Art on the Plaza program by Miami-born, Cuban American artist Nicole Salcedo. This beautifully crafted gate, inspired by the traditions of the Caribbean diaspora, features an intricately carved face symbolizing renewal and connection to the natural world.
Decorated with motifs of Caribbean vegetation, Earth Gate serves as both a visual and spiritual portal. As you walk through, take a moment to reflect on the sacredness of place and our shared bond with the world around us. Experience the power of nature in this captivating public art piece.
Make sure to join us on Friday, September 27 for a mandala-building experience with Salcedo, alongside artists Alexander Zastera and Agua Dulce.
Learn more about the installation and our upcoming events at the link in bio!
Palm flowers for stability and abundance. tobacco seeds for protection. sealed with beeswax. a spell for anxious minds in an accelerating reality. turning away from overproduction, overconsumption, over-performance. moving towards gathering, breathing, cradling. mourning another earth day.

A mourning process…Gathering palm bracts, a temporary leaf meant to protect the palm’s inflorescences as it gets ready to bloom, and changing them into vessels for tree spirits lost to overdevelopment in Miami.

Embracing the companionship of death and the inevitability of rebirth. A seed as a crossroads in the cycles, a point of bifurcation into new paths of existence.
