Camera Obscura’s visual and sonic worlds are deeply intertwined. Originally conceived as an ambient/electronic soundscape of evolving textures—built from analog synths, drum machines, tape re-amping, found sound and live improvisation—the film mirrors the analog texture and expansive soundscape of the music in organic 16mm celluloid film, capturing light, shadow, and grain in ways that echo the music’s depth, both intimate and expansive. Just as the sound unfolds through space and dimension, the visual texture carries the same richness, creating an immersive experience where image and sound reflect each other in intricate, alchemical detail.

Awreliya live at the Coburg Courthouse | May 11, 2025
Had the pleasure of arranging these songs with @awreliya__ , then bringing them to life with Dash Dandy on drums. I got to unleash ALL my fuzz pedals, holding down the low end while Awreliya broke open the sky with her powerful vocals.
We are unofficially calling this genre "Doom Soul" - hope you like it 🎶

Camera Obscura is the descent inward—to what is hidden, unknown, and waiting to be transformed. Light emerges through a pinhole: a room in space, suspended outside of time.
Along the path, archetypal figures appear—guides and uncanny travelers—each mirroring facets of the self. Through confrontation and passage, the journey culminates in rebirth: awakening to the truth that everything sought has always been within, rising from the depths.

Shadow: the first of three performance videos - reimagining some of my oldest songs in the live setting.
I built a new Ableton rig: Prophet and Moog synths, a MIDI controller acting as a mixer, some custom MIDI mapping, and a re-amp channel running through Volante + Big Sky pedals. This let me blend new synth improvisations into the pre-recorded textures — opening the songs further, feeling and reacting to the resonance in the room, and leaning into a kind of dub-style mixing.
