Deserto del Namib - MDS Raid Namibia.
107 km, 4 tappe, in totale autosufficienza.
Correre all’alba in questo ambiente unico ti fa sentire davvero vivo, profondamente connesso all’anima del deserto. Qui la sabbia smette di essere un luogo da temere e diventa una fonte di energia incredibile. Il segreto è imparare a incanalare questa forza, trasformandola nel carburante necessario per affrontare e conquistare ogni singola duna.
🇬🇧 Namib Desert - MDS Raid Namibia.
107 km, 4 stages, total self-sufficiency.
Running at dawn in this unique environment makes you feel truly alive, deeply connected to the heart of the desert. Here, the sand is no longer a place to fear; instead, it radiates an incredible energy. The secret is learning how to harness that power, turning it into the strength you need to face and conquer every single dune.

Almost ready for a new adventure! In one week I will run MDS Raid in Namibia.
Desert race number 10.
The race will take place in the Namib, the oldest and the driest desert in the world, famous for its gigantic dunes.
The format of this race is quite unusual and this is why I chose this one: First of all the race has to be run in DUO: my running buddy will be @freddy_paris and I hope we will be both strong enough to support ourselves during the continuous ups and downs of each stage. The race will be a 107 km run in 4 stages, self supported. This race will not be marked with the usual flags every 50-100 meters, but we will have to use our GPS with a road book to navigate along the route of each stage. At the end of the second stage we will not reach our bivouac with our tent but we will sleep outdoor only with our sleeping bags under a starry night.. the race can be followed in the website of MDS since we will have a gps tracker : /en/event/mds-raid-namibia-2026. #marathondessables 🇳🇦 #namibdesert #ultramarathon #runningtheworld #oneteamonedream
Gobi March 2025 Mongolia 🇲🇳- 250 self supported race in 7 days
After carefully choosing all the mandatory and medical equipment, the correct choice of food becomes crucial and often a Hamlet-like dilemma: better being conservative and carrying more food but being heavier or better carrying only the essential (knowing you might be starving at one point) but being lighter? In this race I decide to be a little more conservative and I carry with me 17.200 calories (14.000 kal is the minimum requirement). My backpack is still quite light (7,5 kg without water). This time I bring with me some extra snacks that for an Italian runner 🇮🇹 are unmissable: I carry 10 (instead of 7) mono portions of Parmesan cheese (maybe I will share some?) and 5 mini portions of dried mocetta (a special type of prosciutto with no fat that better withstand even the extreme temperatures that can be found in the desert).
These snacks are, in a way, my reward to better face the toughest and darkest moments that inevitably come up in a race like this.. It’s also important to choose the right gels and energy bars: sometimes when these last ones are too sweet or too chewy or partially melted, they become almost impossible to swallow… even the recovery drink at the end of each stage has to be tested before the race: maybe one that tastes good with cold water at home becomes terrible when poured in your smelly water bottles with the warm water that is normally available during these races.
For the evening meal, I always choose pre-made dehydrated food pouches: they typically provide enough calories for the most important meal of the day, are quick to prepare, especially in races that provide hot water (like not the Marathon Des Sables), and there’s no need to wash a pot.
It’s important that you eat all the food that is in your backpack because you have to carry every single gram for so many km and in this type of race, there no room for waste.

MDS Jordan 🇯🇴 2024:
120 km in 3 stages. Finisher of another amazing race in one of the most beautiful deserts ever seen. A multi stage race is always a great life experience, you have always the chance to meet extraordinary and inspirational people: it was amazing to see the braveness and the mental strength of many runners at their first experience in a race like this but it was also a privilege to share the bivouac n.27 with Salameh Al-Aqra, a real legend of this sport. Congratulations to @marathondessables for the impeccable organization, Looking forward to competing in the next desert..
