🇬🇧EN: The @nighttimefoundation together with the @viennaclubcommission , VibeLab, and @safenow_official , is launching a new pilot project: Neighbourhoods for All in Vienna’s Westgürtel. The main aim of the project is to explore how nightlife and entertainment districts can be made safer through stronger collaboration between clubs, organisers, and local communities while reducing reliance on enforcement. If you’re based in the area, you can get involved right away and help kick-start the project. Here’s how: 👉Take the survey: Do you go out, work, or live around the Gürtel? Take part in the survey and download the SafeNow app (links in bio). You can use the app outside of SafeNow Zones worldwide as your personal alarm system with family and friends. 👉Join a focus group: Are you a venue operator, event organiser, or working in safety (e.g. security or awareness)? Noise in the city needs to be negotiated again and again. 📢📢📢 That’s why cities need strong mediators, such as a Night Commission, Night Czar, or Night Mayor. When you have mediator, you also need a strategy. Project Soundscapes Futures in collaboration with the @nighttimefoundation and @fraunhofer.iao is a great example, exploring scalable solutions for integrating green infrastructure into nightlife districts to help mitigate noise pollution. Back in February, we had an inspiring discussion in Lisbon. Together with @nighttimefoundation , @mil_lisbon , @amelisboapt and @goetheinstitut_portugal , we launched the Lisbon After Dark Trilogy a three-part series exploring nighttime culture, the nighttime economy, and the role of the night in Lisbon’s cultural ecosystem. In the second session, we spoke with people from across Lisbon’s cultural landscape to look at the night not as “party” or “consumption,” but as a breeding ground for artistic expression, talent, experimentation, and community. Across both sessions, speakers highlighted how nightlife, cultural infrastructure, and talent mobility are essential to resilient and competitive cities. Could Asia be driving the next era of nightlife, from trillions in activity to cities built for after dark? Asia’s nightlife economy is stepping into the global spotlight. A new report launched at Davos estimates the worldwide night economy is worth up to US$4 trillion annually, with Asia emerging as one of its most active and interconnected regions. Published by Nighttime Foundation, an initiative of VibeLab, the study highlights how cities across the region are integrating nightlife into infrastructure, transport planning and cultural policy. In Tokyo alone, billions are projected in evening economy growth, while places like Shanghai show how nightlife can be structurally embedded into urban systems.
