This behavior of judging Toke on her pregnancy because she is not married is utter nonsense and should stop. I won’t even bring up the argument of Jesus, Mary, or Joseph etc because that’s besides the whole point! All of una join together when dey talk, who all of una help? Una dun baff finish? You make a round table and start discussing a whole person’s pregnancy, personal life,and decisions because why? You dun chop today? Aren’t you hungry? I remember when I got engaged and got pregnant. My family judged me and stopped paying my school fees. One brother will send me to the other and that one will send me back to the other. I had no mental support. Then when I had the baby, the abuse I suffered! It was like watching Nollywood. My once loving family turned against me and treated me like I had some kind of disease. The case is different now because everyone sees me differently. Now, my child is grown and as much as I tried to hide everything from her, she found out all that was done to us and has kind of stayed away from all of them. I have begged her and told her these are your uncles and she has said “Nope!” It has taken the grace of God to keep her in Christ because she doesn’t understand why people in Christ will act in such a way that is questionable. I wish I had the grace and opportunity to plan my pregnancies and have family and outside support. I remember asking my Aunty to throw me a baby shower and she asked me “and who do we tell the people coming that the father is?” Like?! This is why I am very protective of myself and my children. You have no permission to come close to us and if you try hurting me or my children your own dun go be that….ask around. I’m not the one. But that aside….Nobody, has the flimsy right to judge Toke’s journey. You don’t know her story. Single mother, single mother. You when mama and papa born, who you dun help?! Pepper rice and stew!

I saw a video on my friend’s wall. She had posted pepper rice and stew so I made mine with a twist. It won’t be my cooking without any fun twists. Here are the ingredients I used : One habanero, 4 bell peppers, 4 dried sweet peppers(I don’t have dried shombo), 1 purple onion, 1 sweet onion, 2 garlic cloves(I had to lol. Optional), almost a cup of oil, 2 tablespoons bacon fat. Seasoning was knorr chicken, and crayfish powder. There was also a pinch of salt and 1/2 cup stock. Some time last week at work, we had some carolers come sing in my unit and it reminded me of growing up in the NNPC housing estate. We used to Carol from door to door during the Christmas season. Christmas with my family was very memorable and for the first time in over 20years, I am in that state of mind. I remember my parents buying me Christmas clothes, or having my Christmas clothes made. I remember the brocades, the lace dresses, the panda book bag. I remember fried rice and Fanta. I remember going to visit family friends, and just generally being a kid at Christmas. Most of all, I remember just being with my family. And for the very first time in a long time, I am in that state of mind.
