My new single “La Petite Mort” is out today on streaming platforms and Bandcamp, link in bio. It features the expressive cello of maestro David Berlin and an equally emotive piano performance by @georginalewispiano Georgina Lewis. I’m very grateful to them for bringing this piece to life. Huge thanks to Daniel O’Toole @daniel.otoole for lending his artwork “Forest and Flame” to this release. Dan’s work feels almost biological to me, I love its intense colour and sense of transition. The music describes a transition between emotional states, a tension between intimacy and mortality, the coexistence of love and death. Composed and recorded by @nickbatterham Mastered by Lachlan Carrick @lachlanjc Thanks to Richard Lawrence for commissioning this piece. Thanks also to the awesome team at @soothesoundsaus and @gyro.music

I recently wrote and recorded some piano and strings pieces for a beautiful new video game called Little Ruin. Huge congrats to Mark and Fi @lucernalgames @fiona.lucernal for receiving @screenaustralia funding to take the project to the next level. As indie-developers, they’ve worked so hard bringing this project to life, and the world that they’re creating is truly special. I’m thrilled to be a part of it. Little Ruin, coming soon!

First Snow (Music for Piano and Strings) is out today on streaming platforms and Bandcamp. LP and CD available via my website or in-store at @rocksteadyrecords and @readingsbooks - also available at the launch concert @temporubato_au on November 10. These tracks have come together over the last 5 years, alongside my writing for other projects, so a lot of people have inspired and encouraged me over that time. Thank you friends, wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you! Many thanks again to @d.r.e.z for his beautiful artwork across this project. Shout-out to @r_o_n_e for having me collaborate on his installations, which is what set me on this path of writing for piano and strings. Thanks to @natbartsch and Sarah @golden_hour.me for their sound advice, Darcy @mechsoul_studio for help with the visuals and thanks to @davelaingpublicity for spreading the word. My new album, First Snow (Music for Piano and Strings) is released this Friday. My friend @ben_cunningham_acs shot this slow and meditative video clip for the lengthy title track, First Snow. I really admire Ben’s spectacular aerial and nature cinematography. The clip loosely follows water from the highest snowy peaks to the ocean, speaking to a timeline beyond human experience and a connectedness of all things. The minute detail in these monumental landscapes deserves to be watched on the very biggest of screens.
