"I've always dreamt of designing curriculum. Creating engaging lessons for my students is the fire that keeps me going when I'm teaching in the classroom. When I lost my job because of the pandemic last March, it gave me the opportunity to focus on curriculum design full-time. If there's been any silver lining over the past year, it has been being able to turn my passion into a project. Sometimes I feel disconnected from other teachers when they talk about their experiences in the classroom now, and sometimes I even have hesitations to even call myself a teacher. But I am learning so much about pedagogy, about supporting students, and about the direction education is moving in. I now work as an occasional teacher with my board, and whenever I step back into the classroom, I notice the way this new journey is shaping me as an educator. Teaching is more than a job title for me - it is my identity, and I'm excited to have found my happy place in education." @mondaysmadeeasy #NicheEducators #TeachersOnIG #Curriculum #TeacherShare #TeacherLife #InstaTeacher #TeachersHelpingTeachers

"Hiiii🌟 My name is Katy and I am a first year High School Math teacher! I am credentialed in both multiple subjects and single subject math and love ALL things teaching. I live and teach in the Bay Area, California. I got into teaching for the students. I believe that forming them, supporting them, and challenging them to grow in who they are comes first - curriculum comes second. I tell my students, 'Be proud of the work you do, your actions, and who you are,' and I try to live by that motto. Fun fact about me: I went to the high school I now teach at! I was a cheerleader and a pole vaulter...and now I coach both teams!" @ms.johnson.teaches #NicheEducators #TeachersOnIG #TeachersOfInstagram #TeacherLife #InstaTeacher #MathTeacher #HighSchoolTeacher #Coach #HighSchoolCoach

"Hey y’all 👋🏽 I’m Ms. Loredo from Texas! I’m a high school English teacher & Reading Specialist ✨💛 I just graduated in December with my Masters in Reading & Literacy 📚🎓 My experience as an educator has been nothing short of amazing! ❤️ I know I can’t teach every child in the world but I can make a difference for the ones that I do teach. The impact I have on their lives can stay with them throughout their years of schooling and beyond. When I first began teaching, I only thought about teaching my students and what impact I could have on them. As I’ve grown older and more experienced, I’ve realized that I want to change the educational system completely. I hope to influence other teachers to be as passionate about teaching as I am, and I want to influence lawmakers to make policies that will be in the best interest of teachers and children. As teachers, we are on the front lines and have the greatest effect on children. It’s an awesome responsibility—one that I will ALWAYS love doing ❤️" @ms.loredo #NicheEducators #TeachersOnIG #TeachersOfInstagram #TeacherLife #InstaTeacher #HighschoolTeacher #VirtualLearning #TeachersHelpingTeachers

"Well, where do I start? I am a second career teacher who happens to be a first-year teacher in the midst of a pandemic! What a time to be alive 🙃 My teaching journey has been the craziest rollercoaster ride. I student-taught in the fall semester of 2019 and was slated to take over my Master Teacher’s Fashion Design program. It was a hot mess - the principal decided to change her mind and cut a program that had a waitlist, 9 units of college credit, a full-fledge CTSO, and certifications. I was beyond devastated as all of the other districts in my area cut their Fashion programs because 'Fashion is not viable'...but we live an hour from LA which is the center of industry for the US! It made no sense but I’m thankful. Turns out that school was super toxic anyways! I found a part-time fashion program in another county that was 5 hours per week. I accepted the position because at least it was something on my teaching resume. This 5-hour after-bell position teaching CTE fashion design led to an offer for a long-term sub assignment for CTE video production for a middle school in Orange County! I gladly accepted full-time pay!! COVID taught me to be super flexible. It’s my first year of teaching, and I’m teaching a subject I’m not credentialed in. I teach middle school full time, not high school. I commute 3 hours total roundtrip every day. I’ve learned SO much. I still hope and pray every day that someday an administrator in my county will see the value of Family Consumer Science and let me start a full-time fashion program. Until then, I just keep going with whatever comes my way! I am also teaching in the hybrid model and have been since October 2020. Schools where I live are still 100% online so it has also been a blessing to get hybrid experience under my belt when not even my husband (who is also a teacher) has taught hybrid yet!" @missalishagrace #NicheEducators #TeachersOfInstagram #EducatorsOfInstagram #TeachesrBeLike #TeachersHelpingTeachers #MiddleSchool #FashionDesign

"Hi, I’m Clare Lee and this is my third year teaching! I taught for two years in Philadelphia and moved back to California during the pandemic. (Crazy, I know!) I am so grateful to have accomplished my dream of becoming a teacher since the third grade!

Transitioning into distance learning back in March of 2020 was so challenging, but it eventually made me love my job even more. My students were the reason why I was able to conquer each day. They bring a smile to my face every single day and reaffirm my passion to teach. I am extremely blessed to do what I love during this time of hardship and uncertainty!" @clareteaches #NicheEducator #TeachersOfInstagram #EducatorsOfInstagram #ThirdGradeTeacher #ElementaryTeacher #DistanceLearning #OnlineLearning #TeacherLife #TeacherGram

"I am Liz Hernandez Marin and I will be graduating this May 2021 with a M.S. in School Counseling from Sacramento State University. One of the main reasons why I wanted to become a counselor was because I wish I had someone like me when I was younger. Coming from a Mexican household, mental health and therapy was not discussed and our problems weren’t processed. It wasn’t until I myself pursued personal therapy that I knew I wanted to do things differently. I wanted to change the narrative. As a School Counseling intern, I had to adjust to the new “norm” and it’s been a process. I suddenly had to figure out how to do individual and group counseling online. A lot of patience, resourcefulness, and creative magic had to happen. Counseling had to shift to online for the kiddos, but that hasn’t stopped my resiliency to be there for them. I decided to create a social media IG page and YouTube videos where families, students, and educators could come to collaborate and enrich our kiddos! It’s been such an interesting journey that will ultimately make me a better school counselor. Our kiddos need at least one person in their lives who wholeheartedly believes and advocates for them. 🤍💜" @counselor_mrsmarin @sacstate #NicheEducators #CounselorsOfInstagram #SchoolCounselor #GradStudent #FutureEducator #VirtualLearning #DistanceLearning #OnlineLearning #MentalHealth

"Hey Beautiful peeps! My name is Amber and I’m a 2nd-grade teacher from the 🍑 state. This is my 12th year teaching and I never in million years thought that it would be like this (I’m sure none of us did). I’m currently hybrid so I have half F2F and the rest online. Now that we’ve been doing it for a while, I finally feel like my students and I have gotten the hang of it and adapted pretty well. This year has definitely brought some challenges but I try to stay positive and think of each day as a new start. I know it’s hard and challenging for many teachers out there but one thing that has helped me is making sure self-care is a part of my weekly routine. It’s really easy for many teachers to get wrapped up in what they do for a living and forget about themselves. I really want to encourage each and every educator out there to simply stop what they’re doing and RELAX✨RELATE✨RELEASE✨ It’s important because we have to be WHOLE ourselves in order to pour into others, especially those that look to us for guidance and understanding." @braids_grades_repeat #NicheEducators #TeachersOfInstagram #EducatorsOfInstagram #TeachersBeLike #TeachersHelpingTeachers #VirtualLearning #HybridTeaching #Elementary #ElementaryTeacher #SelfCare #MentalHealth

"I am an art teacher with a master's degree in literacy and reading. I have been teaching for 14 years and have taught all grade-levels at some point in my career! I’m so happy I’ve landed in the elementary art room, even though a much younger me would have wished for anything but. The elementary art room is an adventurous and whimsical place and it’s pretty exciting to get to facilitate the magic. I believe that art is a powerful educational tool which allows students to explore, create, make messes and mistakes while also building their social and emotional intelligences! I am also passionate about literacy and using the art room to foster the same passion for reading in my students! I love a good picture book. If you need a rec, I’m your guy! The pandemic has changed a lot in my classroom, and it’s no exaggeration to say that it has increased the stresses of teaching, but kids need art more than ever. It’s a space for them to engage, process, explore and express their ideas, feelings, frustrations and needs."' @scholtenart #NicheEducators #TeachersOfInstagram #ArtTeacher #Elementary #ElementaryTeacher #Literacy #TeachersHelpingTeachers #VirtualLearning

"Hi, I’m Winona and I am a School Counselor. The pandemic has helped people to understand how important my role is for students. More attention has been brought to mental health and social-emotional learning during this time. I am a big believer that children cannot function academically if they’re not right emotionally. I love my job and my students. As I always tell them, I am like an adult friend and they can depend on me and come to me when they need a friend! Make sure you thank a school counselor today for all that they do!" @living_the_mommy_life #nicheeducators #schoolcounselor #counseling #counselorlife #educatorsofinstagram #schoolcounselorsofinstagram #distancelearning #virtuallearning

"Teaching during this pandemic was extremely scary at first. I was even hesitant to return because I questioned being able to reach all of my students virtually. Fast forward a year later, I’m able to use various Google apps as a way to connect with my students effectively. Things are tough, but the reality is that these kids need us now more than ever! My advice to fellow educators would be to control what you can and simply let go of the rest. We are superhumans, but we do not have superpowers 💙" @kbtheteach #nicheeducators #teachersofinstagram #educatorsofinstagram #teachersbelike #teachershelpingteachers #virtuallearning #distancelearning #teaching2021

"I’ve been teaching for the past 14 years in Charleston, South Carolina, almost all in first grade. I have a 4-year-old and a 4-week-old, so I am taking maternity leave right now. I have a passion for all things responsive classroom. First grade is my favorite age because they are learning how to regulate their emotions, get along with other little people, and find their voice! I love helping kids take ownership of their learning, create an amazing classroom community, and take responsibility for their actions. I believe in the art of bucket filling and the power of a wet paper towel 😜 It's my go-to for all ailments- and it works 100% of the time! Thank me later." @longafterthebellrings #nicheeducators #teachersofinstagram #momsofinstagram #teaching2021 #1stgrade #teachersbelike #teachershare

"Teaching is definitely a career where you must learn to adapt. We have to adapt to our students' learning styles to accommodate their needs to learn, we must adapt to their likes and interest to build student-teacher rapport/connection and adapt to the classroom environment we are placed in. Now with COVID-19 among us, we use these same adaptation skills to create a learning environment through technology. In the beginning, it was challenging but through trial and error, I am able to educate my students as if we are in a classroom. Although I miss being able to interact with students physically, I am making the best of it through technology. I am proud to say that I am molding the minds of the upcoming generation." @tybrown_ #nicheeducators #teachersofinstagram #educatorsofinstagram #teaching2021 #distancelearning #teachersbelike #teacherstrong #teachershare
