NEXT GEN // Working with Regional Industry Education Partnerships we are committed to championing the next generation and creating awareness of the opportunities in our industry. This week we hosted a group of Year 10 students from various local high schools who are considering a School Based Apprenticeship (SBAT) which we are excited to offer in 2025.
80 // Today our fearless founder celebrates a very special milestone birthday! Nicholas Toskas is an industry legend and trail blazer. He founded NICCO in 1998 but his tenure in our industry dates back to the 1960s. Happy birthday Nicholas! Your family and team are so grateful for your vision and tenacity. And we love that you still come to work every day.
GRATEFUL // We are beyond humbled to be recognised by NSW Premier Mr Chris Minns for our participation in the Regional Industry Education Partnership program. On 26 September last year, we got a special mention in parliament (we are even in the Hansard!) and today we were presented a Community Recognition Certificate by the man himself. This is such awesome recognition of who we are, what we do and how we are contributing to bridging the gap between education and industry to help address current skills shortages. We are so proud of our team – especially their willingness to be involved in mentoring and imparting their knowledge and skills to the next generation. From participating in expos, supporting our work experience students, and teaching our apprentices, this commendation is a testament to our incredible team.
DID YOU KNOW // Biophilic spaces often incorporate timber for more than just aesthetics. Studies suggest timber contributes to wellbeing including helping reduce cortisol, the body’s stress hormone.

RESPONSIBLE CHOICES // Wood is a low-carbon option for building. It is renewable, it stores carbon for the long-term, and it has a lower embodied energy than many other building materials. This is why timber windows and doors can assist in reducing the carbon footprint of a building.

FAREWELL // 40 years of dedication. Julian started with our founder, Nicholas Toskas, back in 1986, during the Marrickville hardware days. Four decades of commitment, skill, and quiet dedication. Thank you for everything. Wishing you all the best in retirement. You’ll be missed.
