A little but about the artist:
Ngan Hoang (she/they) is an artist and designer in Austin, TX whose mixed-media and abstract-expressionist works explore art as a restorative practice of healing and storytelling. As a Vietnamese immigrant-refugee, their artwork is an evolving journey of healing personal, intergenerational, and collective trauma while reflecting the navigation of life between cultures and identities. They take refuge through intuitive art-making as a way to translate emotions, cope with overwhelm, and find meaning behind chaos. Through their art, they seek to build empathy, foster connection, and help others feel less alone in their healing journeys.

🐇⏰ i collected these white rabbit candy wrappers over the last month to imbed into this piece i recently finished. as someone with adhd, the clock imagery signifies how time often slips and melts away from me. this work is also reminiscent of that same character from alice in wonderland (one of my favorite books and movies) who is always running late. i’ll be debuting this at the 26th @atxdragonboat festival tomorrow, saturday, and will have some fine art prints of it available too!

☕️ a few weeks ago, i ordered this pair of “long distance” tea cups for me and my sister amy. aren’t they super duper cute? they’re handmade by my talented friend @gubean and i love them so much! thanks gu 💖 now i’ll think of you and be reminded of my sister every time i drink from it.
at the beginning of february, i had the honor of being interviewed by jen bechem (@jujubeegees ) for her video series “high light, human light” where she captures people’s unseen beauty through synesthesia abstract paintings. i had such a fun time and this is the portrait she painted of me — can’t you see the resemblance? anyway, this may or may not be coming to @austinpbs later this year. in the meantime, go check out jen’s work 💖
