Atlanta, y’all showed out. These past few weeks have been something special. Seeing your faces again, hearing old stories, and feeling that love reminded us why we kept the doors open all these years. Thirty-two trips around the sun, and this little spot turned into one big, wild, beautiful family. What really got us was seeing old faces pop back in, the crew, the regulars, the folks who’ve been riding with us since day one. Y’all didn’t just eat here, you lived here. We’re sad to say goodbye, but man, we’ve laughed hard enough to make it hurt. We’ll miss yelling your names when your food was ready, watching y’all sprint up like you just hit the lottery, and of course calling out “Sweet tea in a water cup” to the tea thieves (you know exactly who you are). This place was never just about the food. It was about the people who made it feel like home, the jokes, the chaos, the love, all of it. So keep that spirit going. Keep showing up for each other. Keep it real, keep it kind, and keep it Atlanta. With love, laughter, and a side of collards, Thank y’all for 32 unforgettable years. 🖤During the Adult Swim Festival 2020, we filmed Mastodon at West End Studios in the middle of Covid. Tom Tapley rolled open the garage doors at Ember City while Darren Sanders and Dee Dee transformed the space for Halloween. By the time they were done, it looked like Brann’s haunted black light wet dream. He even brought in posters and glow-in-the-dark skeletons that usually sit around his dining room table. The band decided to push it further and paint themselves. One by one they stepped out in what looked like war paint. I was too busy running around to notice what Brent was up to, until he emerged looking like the neon Creature from the Black Lagoon. They also brought in two dancers who had appeared in the “Motherload” music video, adding even more wild energy to the set. It was a bleak and uncertain time, but that day became one of my all-time favorite shoots because we all been stuck at home for too long. The world hit pause, but we didn’t.
