A quick demo and they were off! Last night my class transformed their sketches into gelli plate prints @newimprintstudio .
It’s always fascinating to see how people utilize the same materials and techniques and then make it their own.

3/26 - Sketchbook Drawings to Prints, 6-9pm
A few clips from this weekend’s Flower Power workshop with Annie Silverman from @abrazos.press
Participants created botanical inspired works from shaped plates made from Tetra Pak (like the cartons oat milk and stock comes in) and oil board. Rather than inking them like intaglios, they rolled ink on the surface of the plates like a traditional relief block. Annie provided exceptional instruction along with oodles of examples, references, and bright colors before the storm.
Thank you to everyone who joined SGCI or renewed your membership during the Sue Coe Linocut Giveaway. We have a winner!
Congratulations to New Impressions Print Studio! @newimprintstudio

Print Your Block workshop wrap up! We had an awesome crew come out last night. This is the composite of everyone’s efforts…and it is amazing.
Folks were given the prompt to create something from their neighborhood and carve it. This was many people’s first attempt at relief carving/printing. Afterward, people could mix and match blocks to create a print of their own.
There’s one more chance to participate!
