The long overdue recording of my last radio show is finally up on Soundcoud. In retrospect, it's a fairly sombre listen, at least for the first half. There are ambient guitars, folk songs (some sad, some spooky), a brief foray into stoner/doom metal, and a good dose of southern US rap. I'm back on éist next week, Tue 21st April. The 2nd episode of The Refractory Period is up on Soundcloud, link in my bio. The buzz is a lot of sci-fi inspired dub, folk-y psychedelia, spacey electronics. I've been obsessed with Scientist and Jahtari's discography for a while, and those were the starting point for this mix. Some other highlights were a fun trip from Anadol, a rocksteady banger from Prince Buster, and the cutest, dubbiest tune from Hiroshi Fujiwara. I managed to nab the new release from Lisbon label Ufonic just in time for the show, so there's a nice track from that in there. And also one I made myself years ago, which probably nobody has ever heard. My next show will be on 24th March. Not sure of the vibe yet, but have been been listening to a lot of Memphis rap, country and Janet Jackson lately. Maybe there's a show in that.
