This collage is part of my Qโllage series. It was inspired by listening to people in my queer community talk about small moments and acts of resistance that supported them to tap into a sense of abundance and possibility, especially when things felt bleak. Whether itโs an honest conversation with someone that breaks through deep social conditioning or a plant that refuses to be controlled by and for humans, there is evidence everywhere that transformation is possible.

Iโm teaching COLOR MEMORY again this Spring on Monday nightsโจ very excitedโregistration link in bio.
COLOR MEMORY course description:
In Color Memory, we will explore both how color pigments themselves carry centuries of stories and how different pigments evoke stories within us. This course blends technical skill building and personal reflection. We will make our own acrylic paints, learn color theory, and develop our ability to mix desired colors. We will also engage with writing prompts, tell stories, and create a final piece of acrylic or mixed-media artwork that depicts a personal memory that we access through our relationships to color.
My hope is that participants walk away with curiosity and reverence for the wild array of colors around us.

In the midst of all the heaviness right now, itโs been beautiful to host monthly Open Hours for former/current students to create together in the studio. Itโs an ongoing space to make new connections, work at your own pace, and receive peer support with your artwork. I continue to be humbled and amazed by the tangible and intangible that comes out of making art in community.
Still a few spots open for the winter course๐งก link in bio.
