It’s launch day for Life Inside a Cottage. We are so happy that this beautiful book – designed by the brilliant team @benprescottdesign – is finally here and ready to read.
It’s been two and half years since our editor @eve_marleau called to say she had an idea for an interiors book about cottages. Since then, we’ve spent many happy hours with our heads buried in this inspiring collection of cottages. Our research has taken us from a woodland clearing in Mashiko, to a suburban street in south east London, via New Orleans, Abergavenny and the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.
There are so many people to thank. (Our acknowledgement page is feature-length.) But mostly it’s the cottage dwellers – those who truly care for their homes day after day, year after year – that we’d like to thank for sharing their stories with us, and hopefully, you too ...

Capturing a cottage:
For two years, we have been thinking about, writing about and poring over beautiful images of cottages for our book, Life Inside A Cottage. It will be published by @quadrillebooks this Spring and is now available to pre-order at the link in bio.
In this book, we attempt to wrap our heads around what makes a cottage cottage-y and why we are so drawn to these humble homes that are defined not by the people who built them, but by the many lives that have passed through them.
You’ll find chapters on workers’, urban, historic, creative, contemporary and borrowed cottages and interviews with an array of cottage dwellers from across the world who share the small but significant joys their homes bring them.
