Future storytelling, imaginary states and interspecies dialogues
Participants will have time and space to develop on their own new work in dialogue with Kavala’s topography, local communities and the shifting cultural landscapes of the wider Mediterranean.
We welcome artists, thinkers, researchers and hybrid practitioners to engage with the Aegean and the Mediterranean sea as a mythscape in motion, a fluid archive of memory, a post-geographic portal where ancient narratives echo into emerging futures.

Our annual international ‘Cities by the Sea / Reimagine the Mediterranean’ Open Call program is ON.
This year’s theme, “Land of Myths,” calls for speculative, critical and poetic responses to the living mythologies of the Greek world, its coasts and mountains, its islands and archipelagos, its layered histories and ever-shifting ecological realities. We invite practices that approach the Mediterranean not only as a sea, but as a mythic engine, a crossroads of stories, a threshold between worlds where transformation is always underway.

💧I studied textile design before studying jewelry and becoming a jeweler, i have been recommending with fibers and feeling honored that i have found sea shells to make this adornment…
💧I am metabolizing an ocean right now, and found myself popping my bubble and experiencing immense calmness and love after having gone through such dark times… I do feel more than ever the desire to craft, create, birth real meaningful things to be the death doula of the empires and help build a new world inshallah…
I will share more about this metabolisation soon and how it’s impacting my vision and work. The purpose remains the same stronger than ever, serve the waters, decolonize, liberation, being in devotion…yallah!

💧Ephemeral piece~necklace offering to the Aegean sea that will reach the ocean… Over the years of doing this practice it is probably the biggest piece I have birthed so far…
💧Dedicating my time to create such pieces is one of my own ways to honor and be of service to the waters, to give homage, to kneel, to devote my body of water for this element…it feels like magic…
💧Adornment for the landscape…when making these ephemeral amulets i enter a state that feels like trance, like swimming too, like weaving an ancient code… trust my intuition as well as creating something that will make my soul vibrate…
💧and all in between this… : prayers…prayers for the sea, for the ocean, for their healing, for forgiveness (there’s so much pollution i see everyday since i arrived by the sea…and i do my part each day to collect fucking plastic garbage…we all got to do our part even if it feels “small”)
💧grateful for @nekubi and greece for welcoming me…
