Welcome our brand-new Project Space artist, @needsaiii .
Sayo Watanabe is a Brooklyn-based multimedia artist who explores whether discarded objects can fulfill societal needs and disrupt what is deemed valuable. Through surveys, archiving “trash,” and textile explorations, their work studies themes of sustainability and humanity.
Sayo received a BFA from @parsonsschoolofdesign in 2020. In 2025 they received the ChaNorth Young Artist Fellowship Award, the HERALBONY Art Prize, and the NAAAP NY Project Grant. Their work has been featured on @forbes , @cfda , and @wwd , to name a few.
