I’ve spent nearly 20 years of weird, weird time with this band. It would be difficult to appropriately say what the Mess mean to me. Brothers…we sang in screamed in basements and on stages, we’ve drank and talked long into the night, travelled, danced, fought, kissed, drifted apart, gotten sober. We’ve been through marriages, births, divorces, death, tragedy, and a lot of real fucking life.
The Holy Mess still move me 20 years later, but the songs have taken on a different feel, a diary of a bunch of misspent and well-intentioned youth.
Getting to scream these songs again in a room full of old friends was a reminder, that at least for now, we survived all of it.
The Motherfuckin Holy Mess are still dropping the hammer on some commercial shit and they sound better than ever.
