Frames from “Bhen Meri (Sister Mine)” Directed by @akshaygouri . Where the only son of a North Indian farming family played by @sandysingh.actor is faced with an impossible choice when he is sent to Melbourne to commit the Honor Killing of his beloved sister. A tragic story following the, control, pressure and oppression patriarchal values impose on the characters in the story and society as a whole. We pushed a dark, high contrast look that becomes darker and more extreme as the story and pressure of the situation grows on the main character. A huge thank you to our colourist @tim.morton.imaging worked wonders bringing our look and intent alive for every frame. Also a thank you to our amazing lighting and camera team Pooja, @jtran_film pulling sharps for a slow push-in one takes for one of our biggest scenes @christopherlecnik for pulling focus while we were on moving trams and @greg.karabelas our gaffer for lighting beautifully with pools of light 🔥 Our film has currently had a wonderful festival run playing at @hoytsaustralia during @iffmelbourne festival earlier this year as well as in Canada apart of @iffsatoronto and Karela short film festival, @sasff_ffsi and more. It was such an amazing evening seeing all the cast and crew again, along with our wonderful friends, families, and community who came to support the film and the incredible @greekfilmfestival organised by @greek_com_melb . From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you to everyone who came and made the event so special. I recently wrapped on @mediadorashortfilm with the amazing cast and crew putting every bit of effort and talent into the project I just want to say a such thank you, for crafting and helping make amazing and powerful images. I have been watching our scans over last few weeks after getting them back and I am so excited to see this film come together. Shooting on @kodak_shootfilm 16mm film was such an incredible experience paired with the @arriaustralia Arriflex SR3 and @zeisscinematography super speed MK3’s provided by the legendary @cameraquip . I want to thank them personally for all the help during prep and pre getting cameras ready and allowing us to run test. It was a true joy to light and shoot on 16mm. Frames from the wonderful @marco.mov short film “Still” (@still_shortfilm ) - telling the story of an immigrant living in isolation presented with the new age of digital anxiety. Had these still sitting in the gallery for sometime and a few more to come. It’s currently streaming on @sbsondemand after a successful festival run. It was endless enjoyment exploring the different, looks and worlds Marco and I wanted to create and share - often looking to street photography as a large influence on the final film, the aim showing the grit of the street and the beautiful moments it often creates for split seconds. Starring @peter.l.jiang and @bek.lin , there where some fun times Marco our director gave Peter direction and allowed him to roam freely around the city as I followed capturing his interaction with the world contrasted by some shots with long telephoto shots from city blocks away. Shot using @canonanz CN-E lenses with select scenes on the @ironglassadapters V1 Soviet set. With the killer @creamsource fixtures used even when we had rain wash us out. It’s been an absolute pleasure to be in the colour grade suite with the amazing @tim.morton.imaging finishing off the grade for @mediadorashortfilm . We spent almost 12 hours straight to lock off the grade and it was such an amazing time, getting to test our scans and ultimately landing on such a great look that is true to the neg and our intentions with the film, while Tim of course adding his magic. I’m so excited to see the film once’s post is finalised and cannot thank everyone who support us along the way! It’s been over six months since we wrapped at 2am and by 4am the next morning on a flight to Sydney, to have the legend, the last man standing, Werner from NegLab Sydney process our 16mm film. Shooting on @kodak_shootfilm 7207 250D was an absolute pleasure. The way in which it renders images particularly skin-tones is unmatched. A huge shoutout to @kodak in Australia for supporting the production and getting the fresh stock to us! Thank you to Peter from @thegrainery.au for all our telecine on the beautiful @arri scan XT. And of course to @cameraquip in South Melbourne, Malcolm, Rob, Hugo and the rest of the crew a huge thank you for taking the time to help setup and test the camera package and put together a kit that really made this film possible! There will be some more BTS flicks coming out from on set but before then I just want to thank the crew that put their all into every frame we captured.
