ICE has been in North Carolina for years. So while CBP has left the state for now, ICE is sticking around – and they’re expanding their operations.
Recently ICE (Not CBP) has greatly expanded their operations in N.C.
This affects all of us – including the Asian American community.
Today this hit home when a family member of an NCAAT staff member was aggressively tailed by ICE officers in Apex on the way to drop her child off to daycare. The officers stopped her – a U.S. citizen – and blocked her from leaving the parking lot. The officers did not identify themselves. They did not provide a reason for the stop.
Equipped with information about her rights and how to engage with federal law enforcement, she was able to de-escalate and avoid detention.
It’s important to stay informed on your rights and how to engage with federal law enforcement. Bookmark this post and share it with your networks! We also encourage you to plan what you might do if you are stopped by federal law enforcement.
Let’s keep each other informed and safe! 🤝
