Underdogs the Musical is out on Audible! When Audible approached me in August 2024 about producing and composing the music for an original musical I was intrigued and excited, but had no idea what a wild ride I was about to embark on. The next nine months were an absolutely amazing experience that pushed me in every way. I got to work alongside brilliant creatives, laser focused engineers, and truly world class talent. The first phase (honestly my favorite) was working with Marcia and Drew, the writers of the show, to create demos of the songs they had written. This often included singing every part in the show for the demos.😂 Phase two was to take those demos and turn them into full productions. Phase three was to write out all the music, including a full musical inside the musical and comprehensive Les Mis parody. Phase four was working with the world class voice acting talent in studio alongside Audible’s incredible production team and the brilliant Ashley who directed this monster (6+ hours) and kept the whole thing in her head somehow. This work of art is packed to the brim with humor, heart, and cleverly constructed (and catchy AF) songs. Everyone involved fell in love with this project. If you’re a musical theater fan there are more inside jokes than you can count. And if you’re not, I promise you’ll love the story, the jokes, and the songs. Worked on this one in: Brooklyn, Krakow, England, Catskill NY (Airbnb studio last photo), and of course Newark. I’m so glad Underdogs is out in the world finally. Go give it a listen.

New project! New music! Debut show! Classic rock n roll, country, and Americana. Songs about whiskey, lust, and murder. You’re gonna love it. This project has been in the works for over a year. It’s based around songs co-written with lyricist/songwriter Matt Detmer, and features some of my favorite musicians in NYC: Johnny Simon Jr on guitar, Tim Lapin on bass, and Bryan Bisordi on drums. Come hear these tunes for the first time live at @hillcountrybbq on W26th on the 5th of December

Wrapping a three week run with Kathleen Edwards tonight in Chicago. I can’t say enough good things about Kathleen and this band and crew. Top notch musicians and professionals all around. This tour is a perfect balance of focused professionalism and palpable joy. Great people, great music, and great times all around. Huge thanks to @esmatteo for the call and to @paullorenmusic to letting me use his rig to make flying in from the UK a breeze. If you’re in Chicago tonight come see us at @lh._schubas and if not check the tour schedule because they’re covering a lot of ground in the next few months and this show is really worth seeing.

RELEASE DAY: “Big Red Love” is now out on all streaming platforms and features in episode 9 of Ransom Canyon, the new hit show on Netflix. This sweet, fun tune was written as a gift to my sister and her husband on their wedding day. There is exactly one vinyl copy in the world and it’s theirs. I expected that would be it for this tune, but the song got into the hands of the folks at Accidental Entertainment who helped place it in this big television show. Honored to have my music alongside the likes of Beck, Leon Bridges, and Charlie Crocket (who performs on the show). Big thanks to Kiyoshi Matsuyama (guitar/bass) and Sam Merrick (drums) for bringing it to life, to Danielle Warman for engineering and mixing it to perfection, and to Alex de Turk for mastering it beautifully. Biggest thanks of all to Mad and Justin for being beautiful people whose love inspired this song. Their dog may no longer be with us, their car is no longer red, but their love is big and beautiful. Enjoy “Big Red Love” anywhere you listen to music.

It’s a hard day to have a heart in America. I wrote this song last year hoping it would never feel this acute. Today felt like the right day to share this.

June 15th, 2024 - We gathered loved ones and declared ourselves a family. We spent months planning and working toward this day and it somehow exceeded expectations. We were floored by how many people traveled to spend a weekend in Suffolk, England with us (and regretted that we couldn’t extend the invite list further due to space limits). The whole weekend feels like a dream but here are some moments that will stay with me: our vows under the orangery Alexis’ late father built for her mother. The intense thunderstorm that hit just a half an hour before guests arrived and then mercifully dissolved into sunshine and blue sky. Friends and family running into each other in the local town Bury St Edmunds in the lead up. The aerobatics display Alexis organized without anyone (including me) knowing about to honor her father. Seeing people from all corners of our life meet and intermingle. Alexis’ face when we started the “secret” (not secret) set of some of her favorite songs as well as one I wrote for her for this occasion. Our first dance. The hilarious and heartfelt speeches from our family members. A standing ovation for Elaine, Alexis’s mother. Late night dance floor energy. Sea shanties on the bus back to town. Champagne in the hotel room’s brass tub til sunrise. Tearful goodbyes in the gardens the following day. It’s been six weeks already. We’re in Athens, about to head off on a ferry in the morning to have a belated honeymoon. Life has felt like a honeymoon for some time now. Guys, my wife is the best. 📸 - @neddymcnenney @jake_s_ogden @nina_jenks

Nat Osborn Band - Live In Poland. Out now on all streaming platforms. We recently played a tribute concert for Damian Niewinski, our band brother/drummer who died of Covid in 2021 and I realized that this beautiful documentation of the band needed to be available everywhere. This is the European quartet in its pomp - road tested for years, hundreds of shows under our belts, tight and confident. Damian’s power and groove on full display. The connection he and Mike have as a section. Dustin ripping fire solos. Recorded in 2016 by Michal Sanecki and mixed masterfully by Danielle Warman of Chiller Sound. This concert was the first time we ever played “Roam” and “Drifting”. It features a few songs that never got recorded: “Nothing”, “Stop” and “Harmony”. I invite you to turn it up loud and pretend you’re there with us. Toast to Damian while you do. #natosbornband #liveinpoland #damianniewinski

Headed back to Europe in two weeks time for this run of duo shows with Mike. Kicking it off at the beautiful @szimplakert ruin pub in Budapest and then headed to the wild, wild east of Romania then back to Poland. Originally a fun side project between @natosbornband tours, Mike and I have been exploring a repertoire of Americana and Jazz, finding new ways to approach an acoustic duo with some new original songs and reworkings of some of our favorite classics. Eleven shows in twelve days. This is gonna be a lot of fun and probably have me sleeping for a week afterwards. If you’re in the area, see you at a show. All tickets and info are up on natosborn.com
