What remained in Okinawa after the war wasn’t just a spirit, but a microorganism BLACK KOJI protected, carried forward, and kept alive. We cultivate it in-house. “ANGEL’SOUL” By @msk.wan A modern riff Manhattan inspired by the philosophy of Angel’s Envy “Respecting The Tradition yet showcasing Modern Expression” Similar to how Soul Jazz Genre which is rooted in tradition structure while giving it a modern energy, groove and emotion. Angel’s Envy bourbon begins with a traditional Kentucky foundation of corn, rye, and malted barley, distilled in copper stills and aged in new charred American oak barrels. Then comes with their signature touch of a modern expression by finishing the bourbon in a port wine barrels for another three to six months. That philosophy is what inspired Angel’Soul, my personal interpretation of the Manhattan. Angel’Soul elevates the layered character of Angel’s Envy Kentucky Bourbon. Port-finished notes of dark cherry, warm oak, and subtle spice form the heartbeat, enriched by a velvety strawberry cream and slow-simmered fig syrup for sweet-tart depth. Roselle cacao butter vermouth adds floral softness and luxurious texture, while almond and pecan bitters provide a warm, toasted finish. Culture Connect was more than an event. It was a meeting of stories, flavours, and energy that carried us from Ghana to Singapore without ever leaving Kilifi. From the first pour to the last track, the Creek transformed into a space of discovery. Guests explored bold cocktails, shared tables with new faces, and experienced what happens when cultures are allowed to speak to each other through taste and music. The collaboration between Salty’s on the Creek, Native, Swizzle Beverage Culture, Mijo’s, and Salt & Smoke brought together craftsmanship, creativity, and a shared love for hospitality. As the sun dipped and the rhythms of DJ Taio carried the night forward, strangers became a community. Glasses clinked. Conversations lingered. Every cocktail told a story.
