Earlier this month, we held our Enduring Spirit Honoring Book Launch Luncheon on a beautiful Sunday morning at Ray's Boathouse.
We celebrated the launch of the Enduring Spirit Book: Native American Women Leading the Way, Volume 1. NAN Co-Founders Iris Friday and Claudia Kauffman mentioned this will be an anthology series and more books are to come in the future, featuring more of our incredible honorees.
We also had the opportunity to honor the leader of this project, Kariel Galbraith, who spent hours of her time researching and interviewing for this book.

NAN is extremely grateful to @eighthgeneration for their generosity in donating to our silent auction, part of the 2026 Silver & Sequins Fundraiser Gala! 🩶
Eighth Generation is a Seattle-based art and lifestyle brand owned by the Snoqualmie Tribe. It was founded in 2008 by artist, activist, and educator Louie Gong (Nooksack), and was purchased by the Snoqualmie Tribe in 2019—making them the first tribe to own a lifestyle brand. As the first Native-owned company to ever produce Native-designed wool blankets, Eighth Generation is a proud participant in the global economy.

We raise our hands to the @duwamishtribe for donating to our silent auction!
The Duwamish people have been in the Seattle/Greater King County area since time immemorial and were the first signatories on the Treaty of Point Elliott in 1855, signed by Chief Si'ahl, who was chief of the Duwamish and Suquamish tribes. The Duwamish longhouse today stands across the street from where one of our largest villages was located before it was burned down by settlers in 1895.
