Hey y’all: as if I didn’t have enough to do, and the world didn’t have enough content, I started a newsletter! Keeping it simple, this newsletter will be occasional dispatches about what I’m writing, reading, and working on. Lots about books, design, and book design.
You can read my first post now about a public library’s publishing imprint, a book about a guy who works in hell, and an 84-inch cake.
If you’d like to know what I’m up to, or just want a good book recommendation, consider subscribing. Find it at the link in my bio!
New work for @utexaspress !
At this point, I could probably fill an entire portfolio with beige covers featuring printed ephemera. To be clear, I'm not complaining—I don't want to get pigeonholed, but I love making this kind of cover.
New cover for @columbiauniversitypress

Big American Writer recasts Jack Kerouac as an ethnic, bilingual author, demonstrating that his French Canadian upbringing and background were formative to his breakthrough literary achievements. Building on years of archival excavation, Jean-Christophe Cloutier demystifies the Beat writer’s complex compositional practices and techniques of self-translation.

Recently approved for @wsupress and the current poet laureate of the state of Michigan, Dr. Melba Boyd.
This is a reissue of a biography Dr. Boyd wrote in the 1990s about Frances E. W. Harper, a writer and important, but lesser-known, figure in the American abolitionist movement.
2026 has been off to a busy start! I'm grateful I get to design books.
