This weekend I had the honor of celebrating, my dad, Mark Karleskind's (PDGA 7277) life by gathering friends and family at one of his favorite places on the planet, "Top of the World", hole 27 at De LaVeaga Disc Golf Course. Over 40 discs and minis were thrown from the "Top of the World" all covered in Marks ashes by those close to Mark. This moment I witnessed yesterday would have had Mark smiling from ear to ear. Throughout his life he worked to get discs in the hands of his family and bring them out to the course as much as possible. One of my dad's favorite sayings was always "Balls Fall, Disc Fly". Yesterday, was our chance to let Mark fly one final time on this earth, but I believe in my heart, he'll be playing disc golf in heaven from now on. Finally I want to send a very heart felt thank you to my entire disc golf family for the condolences. The love and support has been truly amazing and for that I will forever be grateful! Much love to all of you!

It is with a heavy heart, I want to inform my disc golf family that my dad, Mark Karleskind (PDGA #7277) passed away from heart complications on April 7, 2023 in Bend, OR at the age of 70. He passed surrounded by his family who loved him so much. If not for Mark, our family would never have discovered the game of disc golf. Since 1991 Mark has been playing disc golf and has had numerous impacts within the game he loved so much. From running the shack at De Laveaga Disc Golf Course (and selling discs out of his van & station wagon before that), working for Steady Ed at DGA to hosting the Endurobowl Ice Bowl raising thousands for the local food bank, to running the Santa Cruz High School Disc Golf league, Mark was always dedicated to the sport. While Mark is not my biological father my life would have not been the same without him in it. For that, I will always be thankful! Join me today in celebrating the life of a man who has given so much of his life to this game that we all love so much.

Today, as a part of an early viewing group, I had the honor of watching the Fierce Documentary, which follows @ppierce29190 on her journey to try and win a 6th World Championship. This is an incredible film and is an absolute must watch for anyone! This moment in the film hit me the hardest as it reminds me how important the people we love are. I am incredibly lucky to have lived to know Paige, and I look forward to seeing the wake she creates for generations! Watch it on the Disc Golf Network starting tomorrow August 10th. Grab a bag of popcorn, sit back and enjoy a behind the scenes look into the life and mind of a champion on and off the course.

Ever since Bevel's doors have opened we have been blessed with visits from so many disc golfers, some bearing gifts and most just in need of a cold beverage. Just this week, a surprising and thoughtful gift showed up in my office. Since the rise of YouTube and DGN, it's hard for all of us disc golfers to remember what happened "back in the day," but our sport has so many great champions and great stories. From world champions to weekly league winners, great things happen with a disc, day in and day out. This is the tee sign of the final hole of the 2005 World Championship, a specific location that changed my life forever. In the summer of 2005, at the age of 20, I tapped in the putt on this hole in the Final 9 to become world champion. At this point I had not yet won more than an B tier, but after a hard fought week-long battle I won our sport's most prestigious title. With this, I became the second youngest world champion of all time behind the great Sam Ferrans (Harold Duvall also won a World Championship at 20 in 1982). This is a a moment I'll never forget as I was surrounded by friends and family. I can't thank the Klingers enough for making the trip from Pennsylvania with such a thoughtful gift. Soon this will be mounted on the wall at Bevel for all to see. Beers & Birdies!

It has been years since I have found myself on a tour level course with a disc in hand. This morning I had the opportunity to play the Emporia Country Club with a handful of borrowed discs. Emporia and the @dynamicdiscs team have always created an environment for challenging disc golf conditions and this year's Dynamic Discs Open and World Championship will be no exception. I decided to risk throwing a borrowed disc over this lake on 16 and made it onto the island! Spoiler alert, I laid up the putt as the basket is only steps away from the water. The tee pad is concrete built onto a dock, over water... How cool is that!? I wish nothing but the best luck to all the competition this weekend. Whomever takes the titles will have outlasted a fantastic field and survived two of the longest, most difficult courses on the @discgolfprotour . On a side note, it was my first time throwing a @paul_mcbeth Buzzz and I must say, it flew nicely! #discgolf

Crossroads sometimes leave you thinking what direction should I go. After a fantastic weekend on the @discgolfprotour I have received an abnormal amount of negative feedback for my performance on the live coverage. It has always been my goal to make the live show an enjoyable experience for all. I absolutely love getting the opportunity to talk about a sport that I spent my entire life trying my to perfect. To those of you who support the Disc Golf Network with you hard earned dollars, thank you and know I am doing my best to get better each and every show. For the people the have attacked my character, ask for me to be fired, called me a loser or consider me the worst commentator in disc golf, know that the things you say do hurt. If the only way I can get better in your minds is to completely stop, I can't help you there. I will admit that I get excited and sometimes go overboard but I know it only comes from my love for the players and the game they play! To everyone out there that has been told they are no good, know that it's not true. As long as you give your best effort in everything you do you should stand tall and be proud. The first time I was told I was no good was at 8 years old by a fellow disc golfer. I will never forget that moment and without people like this I would have never become a World Champion. To all my supporters thank you from the bottom of my heart and to all my haters thank you for giving me a reason to be great! EDIT: I just want to say thank you to all that have said such nice things! Means more that could ever be expressed in words. ✌️❤️ & 🥏

What a week at the World Championship! I am going to break this one down in 3 categories, and here we go.... The Players... I want to start by congratulating each and every competitor. The world championship is a bucket list item for a lot of players and just playing it is an honor. The Champions... Massive congratulations to @james_conrad_iii and @catrina44184 on their victories. I think that both proved never never giving up should be the mentality of every single player regardless of what place you are in. Winning moments come in many forms, its not just about raising the trophy. @paul_mcbeth and @ppierce29190 , you two have have showed the world that even the greatest have low moments but more importantly you have showed the world what class and passion look like, I envy both of you. @kristin.tattar , while I know you have higher standards for yourself I believe you and your fellow Estonia players @silver.latt and @alberttamm should be incredible proud of your performances. It takes the guts of a champion to prepare for as long as you have for the chance to give it your all. Good luck on the rest of your tour! @frisbeenate , your true love for disc golf is incredible! While we all know you wanted this one, you are a winner in hearts of your disc golf family. @cheimborg , I have said it a million times, great champions have to get beaten down to come back 10 times stronger and I know you will! @kevin_jones116 , @cdick1322 , @emerdaddy64 and @mason.ford72844 , you four prove that heart and soul still exist in this world! To all the others, continue to work hard and know it's not the destination that's important it's the road, embrace every bump as it strengthens your success story. Behind the scenes... I simply have to say thank you to every single person who lifted even a single finger to help make these memories. For many years I walked inside the ropes but I now have a true and better understanding of the hard work you all do! In closing, I can only say how grateful I am to have spent my entire life in this game. This week was historical and I honestly can't wait for the next great moment! Beers & Birdies to all of you!

What a weekend in Portland! It was a true honor to walk the epic fairways with the world's greatest disc golfers! It has been nearly 3 years since I have been on the ground for an event and seriously these players are amazing! First of all, congratulations to @eagle_wmcm for a gutsy win! @kevin_jones116 put on a truly epic performance and should be proud, @sockibomb13 never gave up and gave himself a fantastic chance on 18, @paul_mcbeth and @cheimborg battled hard from the chase card and Paul gave the crowd a thrill with a giant putt on 18. Long story short, these fellas are GOOD! Over on the live broadcast side is a group of people that literally shed blood, sweat and tears to make each show happen. They all work so hard and I am so proud to be a part of this team! Last but certainly not least, thank you to all the fans! Your support and enthusiasm is incredible! See you all at the World Championship!
