Be it short conversations in the cities with hikers or locals or friendships that have developed over weeks. It's all about the people. My thanks go to my friends and family who cheered me on and supported me from home, to the people who accompanied me for some miles and motivated me to keep going (@milan.cdt , @julabougeotte , @slytherinatpct , @mountainmanofnh , @sweet.onion.boy ) and to my trail family (@slightlydubious , @benjaminr84 , @jannikboeckenfoerde ) without whom it would have been impossible. Thank you and see you in a bit my friends… OBSERVATIONS _Montanans are obsessed with the shape of their state. _Melanzana in Leadville has the second hardest door after Berghein in Berlin. Forget it Elon. _A "Howdy Ma'am" from a cowboy is a real thing in Wyoming. And I'm obsessed.

East Glacier Park Village - Canadian Border Mile 2875.8 - Mile 2974.5 11.09.23 - 17.09.23 This is it. The grand finale and one of the announced highlights of the trail. And Glacier National Park did not disappoint. After some back and forth about Park Permits (thanks for your Canadian kindness @slightlydubious )we spent our last days on trail with great weather. The pictures do not do the park justice. It was a wonderful end to a great adventure #cdt2023 #continentaldividetrail #cdtnobo #hikingadventures #crazycookmonument #cdtclassof2023 #cdtcoalition

Darby - East Glacier Park Village Mile 2358.4 - Mile 2875.8 22.08.23 - 11.09.23 Day by day we are getting closer to the border. I am very tired, but otherwise feel very well. Canada is in sight and the Tramily is slowly but surely getting a bit wistful. Another highlight of the trail - the Bob Marshall Wilderness or „The Bob“ for short and the „Chinese Wall“ were beautiful. Off we go to Glacier National Park. #cdt2023 #continentaldividetrail #cdtnobo #hikingadventures #crazycookmonument #cdtclassof2023 #cdtcoalition

Steamboat Springs - Pinedale Mile 1435.9 - Mile 1797.7 11.07.23 - 27.7.23 Wyoming you are wonderful. After crossing the border between Colorado and Wyoming, the terrain flattens out. We hike over 120 miles through the flat Great Divide Basin into the spectacular Wind River Range. My favourite section of the CDT so far. But the trail leaves its mark: I keep thinking about quitting. I am tired and miss my home, my family and friends. #cdt2023 #continentaldividetrail #cdtnobo #hikingadventures #crazycookmonument #cdtclassof2023 #cdtcoalition

Salida - Steamboat Springs Mile 1060 - Mile 1435.9 23.06.23 - 11.07.23 Colorado? You’re kicking my butt. The miles between Salida and Steamboat Springs were incredibly exhausting and brutal. I love you Colorado. But bye. #cdt2023 #continentaldividetrail #cdtnobo #hikingadventures #crazycookmonument #cdtclassof2023 #cdtcoalition

Chama - Salida Mile 780 - Mile 1060 5.6.23 - 22.06.23 There is still so much snow that many people flip to montana or go off the trail. The goodbyes are exhausting and make me sad. In these days it is difficult to find the motivation to continue. So far the beautiful nature, hospitable people and great hikers around me still keep me on the trail. #cdt2023 #continentaldividetrail #cdtnobo #hikingadventures #crazycookmonument #cdtclassof2023 #cdtcoalition

Cuba - Chama Mile 629 - Mile 780 27.5. - 5.6.23 The last few miles in New Mexico have given a first taste of Colorado. A little snow, thunderstorms and a lot of mud. Off we go into the mountains. #cdt2023 #continentaldividetrail #cdtnobo #hikingadventures #crazycookmonument #cdtclassof2023 #cdtcoalition

Grants - Cuba Mile 524 - Mile 629 21.5. - 27.5.23 The steep climb to the summit of Mount Taylor (3446 m) was rigorous but was rewarded with a breathtaking view. Between Grants and Cuba we crossed a beautiful High Desert landscape. The weather was kind to us and halfway through the best trail magic I have ever experienced was waiting for us. No wish remained unfulfilled. Thanks again to CDT Camp Oasis. ❤️ #cdt2023 #continentaldividetrail #cdtnobo #hikingadventures #crazycookmonument #cdtclassof2023 #cdtcoalition

Silver City - Grants Mile 157 - Mile 524 6.5. - 20.5.23 The stretch from Silver City to Grants had it all. River crossings, rain and hail, beautiful flora and fauna, cold nights and hot days. The stops at Davila Ranch and the Toaster House in Pie Town were wonderful. I am always touched by the hospitality and warmth of the people here. #cdt2023 #continentaldividetrail #cdtnobo #hikingadventures #crazycookmonument #cdtclassof2023 #cdtcoalition

Crazy Cook Monument - Silver City Mile 0 - Mile 157 27.4. - 5.5.23 The body and mind are still getting used to the big challenge. The desert is brutal and beautiful. I am looking forward to everything that is yet to come. #cdt2023 #continentaldividetrail #cdtnobo #hikingadventures #crazycookmonument #cdtclassof2023

I will be hiking from Mexico towards Canada. Again. Or as Michael Scott would say: I am ready to get hurt again. Right now I don't know how far I will go on the Continental Divide Trail (CDT). Maybe to Silver City, NM or all the way to the Canadian border. I will hike as long as I enjoy it. Let the adventure begin. #cdt2023 #continentaldividetrail #cdtnobo #hikingadventures #crazycookmonument #cdtclassof2023
