A few weeks ago, I jumped on a Zoom with a fellow LA local, Nastasya Popov, to discuss her debut feature film, Idiotka. The film is a really fun fashion romp set in the Russian side of West Hollywood that satirizes reality shows like Project Runway. The movie features a number of contemporary pop culture icons like Julia Fox, Gabbriette, and Zack Bia (lol)… the name drops are endless. Nastasya and I spoke about the connection between directing and designing, the opulence of Eastern European immigrant grandmas, dressing for success on set, and so much more.
